He’s gone to ****ing Strasbourg on loan I’ve been informed.

They better be paying his full salary and a loan fee or we are once again ****ing idiots.

Could be a couple of situations where the former ****ing idiots have made it virtually impossible meaning we're struggling to save 10k pw on players like Kone and Papy.

Can't see Strasbourg being able to afford his full wedge. We'll be paying part of his wages unfortunately, because of the inflated contracts awarded to bang average players by the previous regime.

Let the **** for for £1million rather than subsidise a 50k a week wage.

Just get rid of the pondlife that’s left.

I think we need to get rid, regardless of what we lose on them. The negative effect of having players around the squad, who aren't contributing, but are being paid more than the players who are grafting, just isn't a risk worth taking. I'm convinced that having Rodwell around last year contributed to the poor performance of others in the team.

However, whilst there's a possibility of us shifting them for a decent fee, we sure as hell shouldn't say that, so I can understand the club's current position. When the transfer window is closing though, I'd loan them out for nowt, pay them off, or anything.

Depends if we still owe any money on him in installments?

He's scum, no doubt about it.

He was only £5million mate I’d be surprised.

I understand he’s a saleable asset, but nobody’s stepping up for him.

Clearly everyone knows he's a ****-stain of a bloke.

If only Big Sam was in a job right now, would have been guaranteed to buy him.

I have a pond and my koi carp are highly offended by that comment! Pond scum is the term they would prefer you use!

Sad thing is we turned down £18m from Everton! Now he’s worth 2m euros!

    £18 ****ing million mate.

Daft thing is he was worth every penny at the time. Even we didn’t realise at that moment he was utterly dependant on following instruction given by Kaboul.

Still, he can be a beast for someone alongside an organiser, his attitude has ****ed it for him though, And it started with that Everton saga.

He’s the past now anyway and like most I’m just buzzing to see this team if hungry lads playing with pride in our shirt.

I have to say as well, largely unmentioned as we haven’t played yet, but how impressive is Ross?

He’s unfazed by the size of the club and just seems so switched on by everything, I hope it works out for the fella cos he comes across superb.

Lads over at Roker Report have the latest on Kone

“Strasbourg will shoulder ALL of Kone’s wages, with no contribution included by Sunderland. The player has taken a MASSIVE hit on the amount he’ll receive, though, and has seemingly accepted that in order to get himself away from Wearside he’ll need to dramatically reduce his weekly fee.

Sunderland will also receive a loan fee for the length of time that he’s away from the club.

And, at the end of it all, if Strasbourg decide that they’d like to keep Kone they’ll have an option to buy clause which allows them to do so.”

Well played by the club then. Obviously a permanent would have been preferable but as I've said before if the bids don't come in there's nowt you can do to force it.

I don't see how that is possible? He has a contract in place for, say, £50k/week. Strasbourg are offering £10k on a loan deal. The £40k shortfall has to come from somewhere, surely? We can't just be like "well everyone has agreed", a contract is a contract, he legally "entitled" to that full amount?

Unless we have renegotiated the terms of his contract with us down to a £10k/week basic but it doesn't sound like that's the case...

Is he on 50k and has he accepted 10k we just dont know I am happy with this deal as reported, and think its the best deal for all concerned. Well done to all if its the case, especially Kone, and I for one wish him well.

It says he's taken a massive hit on his salary so that he can try to kick start his career which has panned the last couple of years.
