Ashley to Charnley, okay Lee just how much money is there? Charnley to Ashley, well Sir, we have 135 million, 765 thousand pounds and 72p. Okay Lee as l am a man of my word, and promised every last penny the club generated, 72p it is then Now pop off and let Rafa know his budget, Oh and Lee, try and get him to spend it wisely, there’s a good chap.
I think the quote could mean whatever Ashley wants it to mean. The fans automatically think that it means whatever we make in terms of TV money, player sales etc... The manager probably thinks that it means player sales... The accountant thinks it's adjusted EBITDA... But really it means that if you add up the instalments (only) of the players incoming for that season, take away all the wages for the coming year, take away any agreed transfers (paid upfront, so full wack) and, by the way, you can't touch the TV money because that supports cashflow and the fact one of the biggest revenue streams for a football club reaps us precisely zero... and your total is... would you look at that? You owe me! Now be a good sport Rafa and sign a new contract. We know this is Mike, but it's still a new kick to the balls each season!
Silly silly Charnley. All he had to do was tell him we had 13,576,500,072 pennies in the vault. Would have saved himself all those uncomfortable phone calls trying to think up new fibs to tell Rafa about why James Perch is out of our price range.
I think uo've got the wrong end of the stick. "Every last penny" meant literally the last penny. Rafa wishes he had a budget of 72p!
I think it means every last penny the club generates. So every bit of profit once costs, debts etc have been taken care of. Looks like we are doing that to me. Plus we've improved the squad so there is plenty to be thankful for.
By your own calculations going off of the NUFC accounts and known levels of income for last season you are on record as expecting a net spend of £30million plus any extra money raised through player sales. Unless you are expecting us to pull off about another £50million of signings with no furter sales this week then what's changed, other than your wumming goalposts? I expect you will now be arguing you expected debt repayment to be included first you cheeky monkey
No I accept I may have been surprised by how little we have to spend. As I say though, me, you and all the rest on here have **** all knowledge of football finances. The so called experts don't agree either so what we read appears bollocks. Looking at the most recent accounts we're all way off including the predictions from the so called experts. Maybe it will take another year of consolidation to get us in a good place financially. The main thing is we have given the manager a better squad more to his liking.
I have a genuine question; we do not run an overdraft or lending facility at all. The "only" debt is to Mike Ashley. How is it actually possible to run at a "loss", who picks up those running costs? The more I think about the NUFC finances, the less sense any of it makes.
He does like his word play, like a few years ago when he said he would remain owner "until the club won something", some lunatics took this as meaning he was going to try to win something for us then sell up, but actually cos he never wants us to win anything, it was in effect his way of saying we're stuck with him for good.
Sick of hearing you suck the **** out of Ashley's arsehole. Are you a real fan of the club or Penfold's bumboy?
From "whatever Rafa wants" to "whatever the club generates" Think we're only a couple more comments from "whatever's in my pocket when he asks"
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...ow-rafa-benitez-changed-it-all-around-at-new/ Admittedly it's not quite The Sun. Anyway, I read about it in Rafa's way. Around the time Mike came running into the office after the Spuds game, presumably pissed, and was all over Rafa. He's such a Weinstein.
Is it realistic to think we've invested anything like "every penny generated" this window? I hope we're going to spend a bit more to plug the holes in the team/squad but am realistic enough to expect us not to. I would agree I actually think we've done very good business this window in the transactions we've carried out but that if penny-pinching beyond reason leaves us overall a bit short then it isn't, holistically, a good window for us. I can accept that with signing on fees and agents fees it's possible we actually haven't made money this window (contrary to what some believe) and also accept that the new contracts some players have signed will also have had signing on fees... but that still leaves a hell of a lot of money from TV rights we've had in in the last 6 months which I don't accept has gone on other expenses - if it has then we must be a horribly run club!!
I'll remind those that need reminding that before the season in the Championship we were running at £25m-£30m profit so there is no way we aren't making at least that now with £30m+ extra TV money and an improved sponsorship deal. In terms of cash flow the club's bank account must be bursting with cash. You don't need to be an accountancy expert to do basic arithmetic and there is simply no way we don't have cash to buy players - unless there is something the club are using that money for that we aren't being told about.
But but but the club keep us informed about everything. All is above board at NUFC and they wouldn't ever steer us wrong or mislead us in any way. Blasphemer.
