At the time he wasn’t one of the best strikers on the planet. Could’ve joined us and been **** or been even better than he was at Pool. There’s no right or wrong when speculating on what ifs, just opinions.
agreed with you can't know how they will do but even with hindsight people are saying it's a plus you didn't sign him. good job we never signed messi as we might not have won the CL if he played instead of drogba
Who said it was a plus? I’ve only seen speculation of how he could’ve fitted in at the time due to the formation/ tactics we played back then.
semantics but that's the way i read it (he wouldn't have been useful in a hoofball - think he's good at hoofball as well its what liverpool used when they went direct and what uruguay do) Then there was one that mentioned if you had suarez you might not have had kane - blessing in disguise.
That’s not entirely wrong though. As a fan of a club there’s not many better sights than seeing an academy product go on to become one of the world’s best. Soldado being absolute dog **** and Adebayor not being consistent enough like he was when on loan ultimately allowed Kane to breakthrough. They were definitely blessings in disguise.
All ifs and butts but if we assume Suarez follows the LFC timeline Kane really kicked off in the 2014-15 season when he kept bagging in the europy and the bitey one ****ed off to Barcelona for the 2014-15 season
Yeah course, that’s why I said it’s too hard to judge if it was right or wrong. If Suarez joined us he could’ve been ****, brilliant or steady.
nah i can't agree with that. Might as well KDB, Lukaku and Salah would have been **** as proven by their stats with us if they had stayed. Talent is talent if they have shown how great they are
I don’t really get the point you’re trying to make. If those three stayed at Chelsea would they be as good as what they are now? Hard to tell as while they were there they weren’t utilised correctly so you’d think not but circumstances could’ve changed... again it’s all about ifs, buts and maybes. No one knows if Suarez would’ve worked well for us or not. We never signed him so we’ll never know. Some may be happy we didn’t, some may be are, it’s their prerogative, doesn’t make them right or wrong.
I agree completely. In the big important games, Poch always comes up short. I’m a big fan of the guy and he’s a class act with how he deals with players, fans, Daniel Levy and the media. However he is yet to win a trophy and not all of that can be blamed on the ‘small’ budget he has at Spurs. As important as it is for the club to win something, he needs to as well.
Inter Milan have made a move for Modric. I know there is already a few of his fellow Croats there so maybe this move will happen. 32 and big wages so doesn’t fit the ‘profile’ but my god he would have been an amazing signing for Spurs. Plus was only yesterday when he was mentioning Spurs in his tweets.
hindsight is great...he was not one of the best strikers in the world at the time. Like De Bruyne and Salah were not world class players when chelsea let them go or like Lukaku was not a very good striker before they let him go too.
I think we will struggle to get our targets in. Chelsea are supposed to be interested in Grealish and Zaha. They will need them to cover for the possible loses of Hazard and Willian so will out bid us. we may need to wait until one of those transfers happen that starts a chain reaction on the last day imo
No way that Inter will be paying "big wages" . Nor the transfer fee that Madrid would demand. If he does go there, I suggest ENIC sell up immediately (if only to save Levy) .
Personally I would have loved us to sign cisco he would have been a superb addition to our team and one that would be worth paying top money for .a class act and our youngsters would have learnt a lot from him...oh well one can only dream.
I think to Levy anything over £50,000 a week is big money I’d be more excited about resigning Modric than Zaha and Grealish combined.
There's a reason for this: because we've seen what happens when we sign one of the best strikers in the world and put them in a system which doesn't come close to playing to their strengths. Serhiy Rebrov was a genuine coup for us when we signed him, and he was several steps ahead of pretty much every single player we had in the squad - but the route one football George Graham had us playing completely nullified him. A decade later the same happened with Roberto Soldado, who was one of the most effective strikers in La Liga, but our system was set up in a way that would've been better for a Drogba-type striker and not an out-and-out poacher like Soldado, so his form nosedived almost as fast as his confidence. Just because a striker is exceptional doesn;t mean they can be dropped into a system that's unsuited for them and be exceptional - Andriy Shevchenko's stint at Chelsea is proof of that.
So.... Meyer is apparently available on a free, and on his way to Palace? (FREE!!!!) Modric is allegedly considering leaving Real Madrid, to go to Inter? Grealish? Zaha? Come on Levy. Get packing. Get hijacking. Get those four in and your slow pace will be forgiven in an instant. Just saying.
