    When I worked for the NHS I used to deal with some people with severe mental health problems, who were psychotic, paranoid and violent with it.

    I was trained in breakaway techniques, physical restraint, de-escalation techniques etc so I knew what to do when somebody was about to launch into an attack. But to be honest most of it was about good risk assessing and taking steps to ensure that the situation didn’t escalate in the first place.

    That said, there was always the element of unknown and I’ve had a few situations where I’ve had to defend myself from an attack.

    Pretty sure @Skylarker and @remembercolinlee will have been through similar situations in their line of work.
