He made the right choice leaving. Arsenal didnt want to pay him what he is clearly worth. Not his fault. Fabregas started the ball rolling and probably unsettled him by wanting to move.
None of them are worth that, they are not worth 90k a week either, get a grip, football economics are crazy right now and are dicatated by sheiks and all sorts of dubiously wealthy people who are making a mockery of the game with the money being thrown about. Arsenal may need to change tact in some areas but we have to have certain principles and rules of how we run the club, don't mind Nasri and his trash talking, he ill be kissing the Man C batch soon like the rest of the mercenaries in football. If you think any players bar a select few love their clubs then your mistaken. Its a wage packed and a gravy train to the majority of the muppets who populate our clubs.
I doubt he knows what it is to love arsenal. But you cant really blame him for leaving when we just sold easily our best player and hadnt strengthened a squad which simply wasnt good enough last year. All this whilst we are in the top 5 clubs in terms of turnover. He wants to win things and make money. Arsenal couldnt offer him this to the extent city could so he moved.
I was angry with him initially, but the shambolic events in the past few weeks (inertia in the transfer market), I can see why he left, we cannot deny he stands a better chance of winning things with that mob than with us.... The fact he trbled his wages also helped, and was possibly tapped up as well!
And I don't have a real problem with that to be honest, we need to move on, how many more "hated players" do we want, cashley,Ade Nasri! we need to focus on our own lads and get behind them, we will lose more players to big payers & spenders but thats life..I dont think we should be under illusions though that Nasri or any of our players love the club..
Gerrard loves the club, Carragher too. Outside of them perhaps JT, Lampard, Beckham loved Man Utd. Frimpong seems to love Arsenal, he grew up supporting them, Jenkinson too. That's about it for the bigger teams. I believe what Nasri said. He enjoyed his time with the club, and has now moved on. I don't expect him to have loyalty - it's his job, no more, no less. Same for Cesc, he loved the time he spent with the club, but has moved on. I think what Nasri has said with regards to the way the club is run is probably very very true, it's just not what the fans want to hear.
We'll lose more players to big clubs? I thought we were a big club?? I agree with you we have to move on, otherwise we will end up tiny tots mentality!
Henry loved Arsenal I think would be fair to say, and is still a fan. Current lot though are a differnent breed.
We are a big club mate but we are not run by a sheik or and Russian tycoon(yet anyway) so we cannot afford the kind of criminal wages being offered by certain clubs. The only people that seem to be getting 300% pay rises in this recession are poxy footballers. A few big clubs may need to go belly up to stop this madness as it's getting out of hand, I would love to see the pay checks bounce at city, not going to happen but imagine their little greedy faces trying to work out where it all went wrong!
Arsenal are a big club, not as big as Man Utd, Barca etc. Other clubs have access to more money not because they are bigger, but because they are bankrolled. Of course Nasri has more chance of winning trophies at City as their wage bill is bigger than their revenue.
Think I have some sympathy with those views. It seems like a combination of a number of factors and I don't blame him for not looking the other way when the 180K a week carrot was dangled in front of him. As Mr Surprisepeople suggested above, the wages structure in football has gone haywire. FFP rules are too far away. If the authorities wanted to do anything seriously about it they could have started the ball rolling much earlier.
To be honest i can't really be upset with Nasri anymore. His decision was clearly the right one especially after watching the way Arsenal have operated since the departure of our 2 best players. We have shown little ambition and no urgency to replace/strengthen our squad for us to challenge. Nasri said he wanted us to invest and strengthen our squad, we didnt, so he upped and went to Man City, who look awesome at the moment.....
