“Winning games of football helps but I’d like to think the supporters can see I want Hull City to do well,” added City’s head coach. “Supporters want to see a team that’ll work hard and have that passion. I know the issues are still there but I can’t control that. I’m trying to put a team out who the fans can get behind. “There’s one song that they like to sing (‘We want Allam out’) but I can’t stop that. I just want to engage and be a team that’s with supporters. We’re trying to do the best for the football club because it’ll always be here.”
Things were briefly starting to look up with the small flurry of signings thay might have proved to be astute. Unfortunately it hasnt progressed furthet. Are they waiting for Maguire to move or to sell KG and or Bowen before spending any more? As things stand, Sky are right, we r strong relegation candidates. 1st 11 os maybe mid to lower table but once injuries and suspensions kick in we are relegation material. Unless things change significantly before wondows close.
Obviously hope we do well, but my humble guess is the lack of a proper squad capable of seeing out the madness of two games a week the Championship demands will probably see us struggle all season. Hope I’m wrong like but nothing so far has given me much hope of finishing outside the bottom six...yet.
Rotherham? Are they good. Who they signed Blackburn? Are they good. Ipswich. Are they good. I think sheff Utd will struggle. All adrenaline last season and tailed off badly. None of the three relegated pl clubs last season went back up. I can certainly see wba and Swansea struggling. Swansea have massive off the pitch issues. An untried coach and disgruntled fans.
Expecting two of the relegated Prem teams to go back up,after that it’s anyones guess with probably 6 strong teams jousting for the final play off spot. Have an inclination for newly promoted Wigan, look a good and well organised side to me.
I admire your optimism Chazz. But we look a very poor side. The promoted sides from league 1 generally do well as they have stability and are on a bit of a bounce. We’re not. Massive change again, our key players from last season McGregor, Dawson, Larsson and Wilson all gone.
Not sure I agree about Sheffield United, they seem to be making some decent signings, Egan from Brentford, McGoldrick from Ipswich, Hendersen from Man United and they're about to announce Ben Woodburn on loan from Liverpool, who's more highly rated there than Harry Wilson.
Maybe that will happen. Been backing Derby to go up in accumulators for years. More than once got the other 3 divisions right. This season I haven't backed them.
Swans, Boro to go up automatic....Leeds through the play offs beating Stoke........Bristol city, Rotherham and millwall or Reading to be relegated...
The BBC final table prediction... 1 Stoke City 1.48 2 Middlesbrough 2.64 3 Derby County 5.08 4 West Bromwich Albion 5.24 5 Nottingham Forest 6.08 6 Leeds United 7.00 7 Swansea City 8.32 8 Aston Villa 8.56 9 Brentford 10.40 10 Sheffield United 10.56 11 Norwich City 11.36 12 Preston North End 11.44 13 Sheffield Wednesday 11.92 14 Bristol City 13.40 15 Queens Park Rangers 13.84 16 Millwall 14.12 17 Blackburn Rovers 14.52 18 Birmingham City 14.60 19 Wigan Athletic 15.00 20 Hull City 15.04 21 Reading 16.64 22 Ipswich Town 16.92 23 Bolton Wanderers 20.36 24 Rotherham United 21.48
I think Millwall will do better than 16th. I also think Wigan and Blackburn look handy sides to finish further up the table.
I'm trying to have a little bit of positivity for the new season here , don't burst my bubble , maybe he just doesn't want to admit he's a decent signing for us
