When you read him being slagged off and continually moaned at with abusive language, then you have a point

Oh, that's how I will know he hasn't got the full support of our fan base. Gee thanks.

Rumours that the bid has gone up to £12 million now. Reckon we'll sell @ £15 million.

Read elsewhere that the reason Lemina never played Saturday is that his wife is heavily pregnant and might have to leave at a moments notice...and in fact left before the end of the game.

I'm in the "How do we not buy a striker?!?" meltdown camp. Otherwise, a decent transfer season TBF.

But yeah, no striker means meltdown for me considering that should have been our priority and we should have had 10,000 targets since this has been a need for several seasons. I may even upgrade to MELTDOWN.

I’m not in meltdown, but will be pretty worried if no further attacking player is bought in.Dont get how we could go from allegedly being very close to a deal for Promes in January, to letting Tadic, Boufal and Carillo go this window and only bring in El Youn in a front line attacking threat. Fingers crossed that it’s because these type of players take longer to sort for one reason or another, though fully expect 2 or 3 to go before this happens. Think it could go to the last day of the window.

Then he’ll never be leaving then. What saints say and actually do, are 2 different things.

Another reason to shoot down anyone who suggested that it would be better to be relegated and enjoy the football in the lower leagues. Unfathomable.

We need a nailed on striker...better than those we have. Problem is that such players are beyond us...guaranteed 20 goal a season strikers are a target for bigger teams than us. We have made some expensive mistakes that we are trying to shift....until we do we can't afford anymore risks. I realise fans will take that risk, but not those trying to run a company. No point in spending for spendings sake. Get the ball in the right place to the strikers we have would be a good start.

He did a podcast/radio show recently. Really interesting. The games, mental health, legal issues. Worth a listen.

Think if we could get a player like Promes in for £30-£35 million, that wouldn’t represent bad business. Would still only put our net spend at around £20 million for the last 4 or so seasons. Not bad considering the premier league payments received in that period.

Our problem is that we have players on big money that we can't shift...we are probably subsidising even those out on loan. Hughes has already said that we have to sell to buy. I suspect that if a flash band wallop striker appeared for peanuts, we'd buy him.....but the club will not want to risk anymore risky purchases. Once bitten, twice shy.

    Fair points.

However, there's a pretty massive gap between what we have and a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker. I'm not expecting a world-beater. The thing is, if you can't find someone you like at the price you like then at some point you have to adjust expectations. If we can't sign a striker at the price you want, then we have to consider developing one. So sign a young player with potential on the cheap.

I hadn't written off Carrillo. If we had kept him then I might have cut Hughes some slack that maybe he felt we had the player we needed. Or Gallagher. But since Hughes seems to not be interested in keeping either play then we are going into the season with the same players and lack of quality and depth we had last year, which is a problem.

And we should have the money. If we don't, then I want to know what's up with our finances. And beyond that, if we are really that tight for cash I think we could have forgone Armstrong as I think we have enough midfielders. I don't mind that we got him, but if that 7m could have gone to a striker, I'd have preferred that.

I would have been willing to pay 25m for Mitrovic, tbh.
