If we're going to be sold then I would like to have the Arabs, like City. Now that would really piss everyone off. <laugh>

Me either, just saying, you dont have to be an extrovert to own a football club, necessarily :)

There's been some suggestion one of the reasons that Abramovich bought Chelsea was to raise his profile.
Putin pulling a number on a random oligarch wouldn't make many waves outside of Russia.
Nicking Abramovich's cash and lobbing him in some gulag in Siberia would get a few reports, though.

I don't really put a lot of stock in that though, as they're supposed to be very friendly.
He seemed to turn up to lots of games too, so it's not like he's some absent, disinterested owner.

Roman is involved in the club dealings aye, but he isn't in the public eye, he doesnt give interviews or appear on Chelsea TV or anything like that.
In fact if it wasn't for pictures of him sitting in the stands at Chelsea games, I would have no idea what he looks like, and I cannot say i have ever heard him speak.

    And to answer this.
If that was the reason he bought Chelsea, he hasn't done that great of a job at it.
If you want to become high profile in the UK, it isn't very hard, especially if you are a billionaire.
Most people just know him as the Russian bloke who owns Chelsea. Though a few sad ****s have dug in to his history to score points on football forums, mostly sad as **** Spurs fans

Everybody knows the name now, though. If something were to happen to him, then it would make the news.
That simply wasn't the case before he bought Chelsea and it's not a vaguely controversial statement.

As for digging into his history, I know it hurts you that your success was bought with blood money, but what can you do?
Not get bought by a crook perhaps, but it's a little too late for that, I guess. <laugh>

The fact that rival fans googled and researched our owner is ****ing hilarious.
I wouldn't even begin to know who owns any of the other clubs, nor do I give a **** where their money came from.
The only others I know are The Glazers (Man Utd) and Mike Ashley (Newcastle), and I only know that because they are in the ****ing news all the time.

Bought by a crook? Levy? Success was won btw. The history books will say that we won our trophies, with no mention of money. <ok>

I'm well aware that you're two different people, Bope.

Levy's our chairman and part owner. Joe Lewis is the majority shareholder and he doesn't really give a ****, as far as I can see.
He's supposed to be in town at the moment, as his yacht is moored up somewhere local, but that's probably just for the new stadium.
Couldn't pick him out of a lineup and I'm quite happy with that.
More owners should stay in the background and let those that know what they're doing run the club.

Mike Ashley's pretty unpopular with Newcastle fans, but that seems to have calmed down a bit recently.
Hired Rafa, stayed out of the spotlight and they've improved as a team, as well as a club.
Having some Chelsea fan clowning about all over the place can be an unwelcome distraction, apparently. <whistle>

They're a bit upset because Benitez hasn't been able to get his top targets. Who has, though?
I think it'll calm down again once they get a couple of players in.

not just that, benitez won't sign an extensions (believe its his last year) and is threatening to leave unless ashley stumps up some money.

Ashley won't stump up any money without benitez signing an extension :D.

Rafa is a god to them so they are currently organising a boycott or something (the usual geordie fun)

I don't know although talks of Radcliffe seem to have pissed off the Yids sufficiently.

It's a bit of an impasse, I guess. Both sides of it are doing the right thing for themselves.
Ashley took over when they were in financial **** and I'm sure he doesn't want to return to that position.
Benitez is probably thinking that he can get a better job, especially if he's not contracted any more and he's probably right, too.
