Given we then sent on ojo, jones, chirivella, phillips, grujic and Woodburn....

Well sure it was totally our first team.

 

I’ll be happy if we continue to keep progressing year on year. It may not amount to much but increased points tally, finishing 1-2 places higher would be sufficient (finishing top 4 is still crucial) and good cup runs.

I do think he needs to win a trophy soon just to get the monkey off his back but I wouldn’t be calling for his head.

He’s the best thing to happen to the club since Benitez. He’s made us competitive which is something I certainly took for granted.

Being in the mix, competing with the best clubs in Europe, attracting quality players - it’s all down to him.

 

Imo mourinhos trying to get the sack at Utd. This could include pissing off anyone decent in their side. A bad start could be on the cards next with blame thrown at Woodward and players.

Hopefully this will mean Utd and Chelsea end up scrapping for 4th.

But who knows Rob green, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley might mount a title challenge. Especially if they get in Danny ings for 35mil.

 

On whether he will look to loan out some young players this summer…

I would say it makes sense if we talk about these things with the players and not in the press conference. Yes, all the young boys who came on today are in really good shape this pre-season, to be honest. They had little holes because of the intensity. Sheyi is a really confident boy as he showed tonight, not only around the penalty when he sent Daniel Sturridge away! You have to be really confident to do that! Pedro Chirivella in the No.6, a fantastic football player. Marko Grujic together with him organising the whole pitch pretty much. Curtis Jones played his first game as a full-back in front of 100,000 people – I would have been nervous, he wasn’t. Rafa Camacho plays a pre-season that is just fantastic, mostly as a full-back which he’d never played before, so they’ve learned a lot. Ben Woodburn is 100 per cent back, for example. How it is with young boys, from time to time the improvement doesn’t go day by day, but he has played such a good pre-season. Nat Phillips, my god – what a pre-season he has played! These boys are completely open. What we will do with that and when, we will see.

If ever there was a manager who was a perfect fit for a club it is Klopp with us. As Jimmy said, similarly Benitez. I think Klopp will have to get fed up with us before we do with him for it not to work anymore. He pays little or no attention to what the media are saying so I don't think he'll be hounded out. Provided the owners stay on side, I can see him being with us for at least the 7 years he's been at his two previous clubs and I'd like it to be a lot longer. He's building something very special, with great football and some added luck a trophy can't be far off.
