You guys haven't exactly fared to well without him(early days, I know).

I'm not particularly happy that we're keeping him, as I always thought we would and the end of today will only prove me, Levy and everyonelse who said he was staying was right. I am glad that the transfer window is shutting, though.

Financially, yes. However, you would still have the problem of getting around Levy's outright refusal to deal with Chelsea, over Modric.

Anyway, I just saw that Goal.com reckons you're putting in a bid for Ribery.

Yeah I saw that earlier and if that's not evidence that the Modric deal is over I don't know what is? I'm in two minds about that one. He's obviously a fantastic player, but at 28 how many good seasons will we get out of him?

    since you ask,
He did not create wealth, they didnt create anything, they simply stole former Soviet property. They have been leaching off
the Russian poor for 15 years.

Well 'stole' isn't exactly the right word. Roman was an opportunist and did indeed rip off the soviet people with the help of Yeltsin who sold off the valuable oil to various investors in order to raise quick money for an economy that was falling apart on his watch. Morally questionable yes, illegal no.

Let's be honest. Abramovich, and other oligarchs, took advantage of an old pisshead, to steal valuable state assets on the cheap.
The only difference since then, is that Abramovich has been smart enough to stay out of politics, and cut a deal with Putin to return said assets.

Agreed. Yelstin was in no fit state to be in charge of Russia when he sold those assets.

Roman has sold all his assets in Russia as far as I am aware, but he has been wise to keep on Putins side as there have been other oligarchs that are now in prison.

Quite right, the Sunday Fail was the only paper to 'report' <whistle> a 40m bid, followed by rubbish internet news sites. Great match prep! The Fail have single handedly unsettled the club imo.

Again, true, also his agent for not including an early 'written' release clause in his contract.

Wow, I know Levy's a good businessman, but that would be the best trick since the five fishes & three loaves.

What exactly has Levy done other than reject your bids and reiterate that he is not for sale? <doh>

P.s Appreciate if you could hold back all insults, if that is at all possible for you <ok>

    Let me see.....

    - Accusing us of making the bid when he made it public
    - His agreement with Modric which he went back on

More partisan garbage. Firstly, Chelsea were the ones who made the bid public through their bought and paid for mouthpiece, The Fail. Despite Levy asking them not to
Secondly, what agreement?? There WAS no agreement. As has been said, if Modrics' agent wasn't such a numpty, there would have been a reserve transfer figure put in his shiny new contract - which he was so happy to sign.

Any evidence for either of these? Thought not.

I genuinely don't think ANYONE is 'in the wrong' here, I just think it's a big transfer saga that has hit a brick wall and we won't get Luka. However, I only dispute when people have said WE are in the wrong because I really don't see how we can be for bidding for a world class player.

Enquiring about a player, then being told he's not for sale, then putting a bid well below any reasonable valuation, letting the bid and subsequent bids become public, unsettling Modric with even your likely wage offer being leaked..
