https://not606.com/threads/sunderland-kick-off-countdown.364670/ https://not606.com/threads/who-will-finish-higher.364431/ It looks like they're struggling to put a team out against us and their fans fancy them to be relegated.
A lot of fans are twitchy at the start of the season, a lot of unknowns but their fans appear to have taken twitchyness onto a new level. Its as well some fans don't actually play for their clubs.
We are the worst for it! That football club has a feel of us about it over the last few years, it's looking bleak for them. No money, no players and Bowyer as manager.
In the past we'd have somehow found a way to balls it up and give Charlton a win and dent all the good will we'd built up but I really don't see it happening this time. Ross has them all fired up. We were ruthless against St Mirren, completely different team to last season.
Its sounding too easy for me, I am not being lulled into thinking it will be anything more than a tough fixture, and we need to get off to a good start, a decent performance and three points is the aim.
I have a sneaking dislike for Charlton because of the Wembley 4-4, but a good start is such a boost I say if their whole starting XI is crocked - good!!
Not quite, but nearly. 2017 Derby County (H) D 1-1 2016 Man City (A) L 1-2 2015 Leicester (A) L 2-4 2014 West Brom (A) D 2-2 2013 Fulham (H) L 0-1 2012 Arsenal (A) D 0-0 2011 Liverpool (A) D 1-1 2010 Birmingham City (H) D 2-2 2009 Bolton (A) W 1-0 (Bent) 2008 Liverpool (H) L 0-1 2007 Spurs (H) W 1-0 (Chopra)
For gods sake, let's just keep that between us!!! No need for the gaffer or the new squad to know about that!! No sirree, no need at all!!!
With all the new signings some of which have just arrived my only concern is that on Saturday we play like a bunch of strangers. Hopefully Mr Ross has got that one covered. A good start is so important in our situation.
Didn’t play like a bunch of strangers in the last two games! I’d like to think we’ll start as we mean to go on, we’ve gotten better every game pre-season I’ve got high hopes as Ross seams like the man to turn the tide for me.
I see what your saying Smithy but it's my pessimistic side overriding my positive side but I think all will be well and we'll start the season with a win. (Hopefully).
My pessimistic side will remember our trait of dropping to and below the level of any supposedly crap team we come up against so if Charlton are in so much trouble , oh dear. However I’ m going for the positive , that a new owner , new manager , new players know nothing of this and will cruelly put the sword to a weak Charlton - no mercy ! 6-0 !
Read a review of this year's League 1 this morning in the Guardian and it has Charlton up there as potential contenders. In spite of what their fans say, they're no mugs and won't be a pushover on Saturday. And, oddly enough, I don't think a massive win for us on Saturday would be in our best interest. I'll rather have a hard fought well earned game offering no false promise of an easy season.
