Walking to work today through Maida Vale, I was impressed by the superior quality of the refuse left out for collection. One place had a rubbish bag with the legend 'Ich bin ein binliner', which I thought was clever. I told my wife about it, and she just looked perplexed, but my 19 year-old son chimed in with 'It's a JFK reference'. A proud moment.

At current sales levels the 1,150 or so McDonalds outlets in the country will serve enough meals for everyone in the population in 35 days. As I haven’t eaten in one for years, has anything changed? Review requested. I used to eat there occasionally when I was young and they were novel. My abstinence means someone is having a double helping as well. In fact I suspect the 60 million plus meals are consumed by a few hundred thousand people.

I was informed by my daughter and her celiac friend who were with us in Mallorca last week that in Spain they sell you a burger on a gluten free bun if you want. Yummy. To be fair I have nothing against them but their ubiquity.

I remember going to one of the first McDonalds in the UK sometime in the 70s. My pal asked for a cheeseburger 'with no **** on it'. Not a fan of gherkins.

As you say, the ubiquity is what is most annoying. We were in Nice a few years back and they were all over the place.

After 8 years living in Leamington finally got into the Kayal South Indian restaurant this evening in a group of six. Have tried before but they never seem to pick up the phone to take reservations. Took an age to take orders and we thought it wasn’t looking good as they seemed too busy to cope. But it was great, fantastic dosas and genuine Kerala curries. Also at less than £25 a head including beers great value. Highly recommended.

Also recommended for thought free background music when you have company Spotify playlists. My daughter, accurately judging the demographic, put on 80s Hits when we got home with our friends for a nightcap, which entertained most though it reminded me how dull and overproduced eighties music was, with the odd shining exception.

Perhaps my satisfied craving for a double espresso at midnight was unwise.

My first visit was in the 70’s and in High Street Ken.

Probably one of the first outlets.

Then I ate a simple cheeseburger was not impressed.

Ubiquity and consumerism aside I would say McDonald's offers average, guilt ridden, food at cheap prices. In recent years I think they've upped their game with better burgers and less soggy fries and I have definitely had worse burgers from say Wetherspoons or pubs attached to cheap hotels...

Took Uber Major to see “Mission: Impossible - Fallout” and I have to say, whether you like him or not, Tom Cruise really delivers on the entertainment on this one.

I’ve liked all the M:I movies, although looking back the first two don’t really seem to fit that well with the latter (is it) 4 movies, but all have been a good watch.

The latest is pretty long at nearly two and a half hours, but the studio was air-conditioned and I had a large tub of fizzy and little need to interrupt my viewing pleasure for a gypsy’s, so well settled to enjoy all that was offered up there on screen.

Like many action movies the director (too lazy to find out who it was) puts you right into the thick of the action all the way. But the welcome move on his part is that he keeps the camera still and level. Not for him that bloody annoying technique where the camera shakes and rolls with the action, leaving you with a migraine.

The action is relentless. A particular mention for the Parisienne car chase scenes, plus a nice little touch of humanity around a female gendarme.

Of course, one has to leave one’s disbelief suspended on a peg in the cloakroom before entering the cloakroom. The fillum has perhaps more flaws than the Empire State Building (marginally funnier said than written) but I’d recommend to any fan of this genre.

    Thoroughly enjoyable.

I visit McDonalds every time I go into town
    for building materials

    I think they are great

€15 buys me a Big Mac Best of plus I have Chicken Nuggets (6) A brilliant expresso coffee and a Daim McFlurry

The Air Con is always spot on
The toilets clean and waitress service

Been 44 most days where I live so to me it’s an Oasis at times. The French don’t use that much in my area so the experience is completely different to what I have seen in the U.K. The children sit still for a start

As said not all the time I grow most of my own food now ... only way to be sure
Not sure I can see what I am eating anyway so have lost the sense of visual presentation

McDonald’s and Trump are to me just symbols of the current trends of the unsatisfied mindset:

    Both revolve around fable imo

If we were to talk about Bush and Burger King imo we ramp the whole thing up
