If we could offload Manquillo and Lazaar for Bryan and another, our defence would be much better. Our issue will be finding buyers for those two. I know some think just sign them anyway but we can’t have 6 full backs on the books. Yeah it is difficult to envisage more defensive recruits because of wage budget issues but maybe an exception can be made on the central defence. Clark is decent but any prolonged period playing first choice would concern me.

No less than 6 of the 8 signed by none other than Rafa himself. I know you like to believe in pots of gold at the end of rainbows and money trees, and I hate to be the one to tell you, but they’re not real. Added to that our wage budget has been categorically proven to have been out of control. We’ve done good work to bring it back in line. I don’t think it would be wise to then just blow it again.
Has the wage budget gotten out of control? Yes we dropped a division for one season but Mikey only had to chip in £15M to keep us afloat. Not really an indication that it was all out of control. Don’t get suckered in on the old “one off” accountancy trick. Since then we have had a full season in the PL and have now gotten the money for that season as well. By the way the players are signed by Mikey not Rafa. And by all accounts, save your’s, aren’t the first names on Rafa’s list. No evidence there at all that the wages bill was out of control.
I do think he has but Pouchy’s point was that the wages bill was “out of control”. Do you think Mikey would let the wage bill get out of control?
So you believe a professional independent accountancy firm has doctored our accounts to present our financial position as worse than it actually is skirting along the line of what is legal?
An old trick I was taught many years ago was to read/listen to what someone is writing/saying and not just to assume what they were writing/saying. If you read what I’ve said more carefully you will see I haven’t said anything about competing financially. That should help you understand the point I’m making.
