HT: Arsenal 1-0 PSG There were some good performances from Arsenal in the first half. Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looked sharp going forward. Matteo Guendouzi was impressive in midfield again. But what about Alex Iwobi? Unai Emery is expecting him to sign a new deal before the window closes but he's not quite got going today. Iwobi **** again? Well I never...
Great to see us smash PSG 5-1 today. Nice for Emery to trounce his old club. But more than that it's really encouraging to see this relatively new team gelling. Players like Guendouzi, Smith-Rowe, Nketiah, all linking up well with Mhkitaryan and Aubameyang. Also don't know if anybody saw that shot of the bench with Auba, Ozil and a few others all laughing and joking ? Looks like there is real team spirit and a sense of fun with these players. This could be the start of something beautiful at Arsenal .....
It was a weak psg team. But it was still nice to win. Better that than lose or draw. Some of our attacking play was good although the defensive aspect of things still looks disjointed
Yeah, it's going to take time for Emery to drill his philosophy into these players. But I like the way we press when we lose the ball. Agreed though that the defence still needs some work.
Watched the game on my phone waiting for delayed plane at the airport. Super impressed with Guendouzi - he was ****ing excellent! Making tackles, closing down and his range of passing was far better than I expected. I wont be suprised if he forcese his way into out starting 11 by the start of the EPL Season. Lacazette and Auba looked good as did Ozil. Starting to see the tactical changes under Emery - it does however look like we will still be pretty attacking next Season under the Spaniard. Was nice to see Ozil playing as a no.10. On the negative Mustafi, Kolasinac and Chambers were all poor at the back. Holding was an improvement when he came on.
Guendouzi looks like the real ****ing deal mate. He was good against Atletico also. If he can translate those kind of performances into the Premier league, then we have got one hell of a player on our hands
Yeah was super impressed. 6'1 hardworking and surprisingly good range of passing - Only 19 so he's still a work in progress but I hope he can make a real impact this Season.
Soo far based on this PreSeason It looks like we will be starting with a 4-2-3-1 GK: Hard to pick - I think we may see an improvement from Cech now that he's fighting to prove he's still 'got what it takes'. FB: Kolasinac has looked shakey again as a LB - I think ultimately he's better suited to the LWB position. Monreal for me. CB: Mustafi makes soo many mistakes. Personally I would rather see Chambers, Mavro or Holding get the playing time so they can develop. Kos will most likley come back into the side when he's fit. CM: Torreira and Guendozi has alot of potential. Xhaka may come in but I think Guendozi already looks comfortable in this system. RMF: Ramsey or Iwobi. LMF: Mkhitarian - I think he could have a big Season this year. AMF: Ozil. Down the middle right behind the CF. With two deep lying midfeielders behind him he has more freedom to be creative. CF: Has to be Auba with Ozil right behind him. This worked a treat against PSG. ---------------------------Leno/Cech---------------------------- Bellerin-------Sokratis----------Holding/Kos-----Monreal --------------------Torreira------Guen/Xhak------------------- ------Ramsey-------------Ozil---------------Mkhitarian------ ------------------------Aubamayang----------------------------- Would still like us to add an experience CB and perhaps TOP class winger but its shaping up to be an interesting side. I think come January we may see a few more players getting sold as Emery gets to grips with the squad.
40 mins: Loosing 1-0 to Chelsea. Started the game terribly but have improved as the games gone on. Bellerin and Elneny (typical) have been terrible but Guendouzi has been excellent yet again.
One thing we do differently from playing with Wenger is that the keeper tends to pass the ball to the side. A-la-Pep style. We just did it and got a nice counter attack from it.
Also Chelsea dominated the first 10-15 mins. Not the whole half like the commentattors are making out.
A few thoughts from the game: Cech has a panic attack everytime the ball gets near his feet. We look lost and slow defensively. Why was ESR man marking Rudiger i will never know. We've gotten better as the game has gone on but this half gets a solid 2/10 from me. Must do better.
