the word is, if Maguire goes to Man Utd for £65m Leicester will be in for Lascelles for £35m. They can suck Mike’s hoop. £50m minimum starting bid. It’s more the cost of not having him for me.
Would he view Leicester as an upwards move? Surely we can compete on wages with what they'd offer, plus he's captain here. I really don't see the appeal of the move from his perspective.
If Maguire is worth £65m, Lascelles can't be far behind. Apparently Maguire is interested, so we better brace ourselves for the bid. This will test Ashley's state of mind with the club, especially if it comes late.
I can see another 'Andy Carroll' scenario here ...................... player states he does not want to move ...................... club states that he is not for sale at any price .......................... Ashley is down his local BP station filling up his helicopter ready for a deadline day dash ......................... player goes, not enough time to get anything else 'over the line' ................... money is promised to manager, but falls into the abyss that is NUFC accounts!! Pouchy says everything is fine and dandy and Mike and Lee are doing a great job and we should just stop moaning. Chaos says that we will sell all of our best players and be relegated ................. and he is correct.
Could be both, considering Wes is getting on. I hope Lascelles gets a Liverpool, Chelsea or Man Utd eventually.
No point going to Leicester. I can't see them repeating their success (though you would never have thought they'd have done it in the first place). That leaves a bigger club but will he become a small fish in a big pond. Hope he stays with us but if not I hope he goes to a big team for loads of money and plays regularly for them
Or that he only had 5years left on his current contract and his refusing to sign a new one now meant Ashley couldnt invest in new players so he had to go.
Carroll was gutted to get paid all that money instead of staying at Newcastle... Lascelles will go nowhere unless someone finds 50m and can offer a significant step up. Then he’ll want to go and we will sell because it’s pointless forcing him to stay.
