If you live somewhere so nice why are you always talking about Bristol and trying to be billy big baller round Clifton?

Clifton is lovely, bit too Tory for me, but nice nonetheless

The laughable thing is that I am trying to play down my lifestyle, but CFC keeps forcing the issue back into the public arena.

@CFC: Champions of FFP x2 there are plenty of ****ty areas around Bournemouth, such as Turlin Moor, Canford Heath, and Boscombe, which contain the “grim” housing estates, but they’re a fair way from me.

Outside if Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, and Lilliputt, places like Broadstone, Lower Parkstone, and Wimborne are the desirable places to live.

I used to live in Lower Parkstone, but it isn’t as nice as where I now live.

And, incidentally, there are some bits of Broadstone that are very exclusive. A few years back, I went and looked round a place that was up for £1.75 million. Gated drive, two acres and set in the middle of woodland. I offered £1.25 million, but my bid was rejected. It’s a quarter of a mile from where I now live.

They didn’t accept £500k below the asking price? Seems unreasonable.

  6. I don’t know any lawyers who do.

I know a couple of bankers, developers and a footballer.

  7. I’m not always talking about Clifton.

But now that you mention it, I do have a business interest around there.

I’m currently looking to buy a flat there, as it happens.

Everything’s relative though, his lifestyle is probably comfortable and compared to many of his peers he’s probably seen as being successful. He over egged it on here, but in fairness most of what he said had at least an element of truth.

I suppose compared to the capital value of the flat, 2 bags a month doesn’t look that bad by London standards. Dead money like, but I’m not sure I’d be rushing to buy down there at the minute.

You get a small house where I live for that money. 1,600 sq ft.

If you offered £1.25m on a property years ago, why are you still living in a £500k property now, which you bought got for 200k, 18 years ago...

Spunked money on your rockstar lifestyle?

Flat to live or to rent? Not sure what the going rate is for a flat nowadays. Can't imagine you'd get much change from £250k

Old twitchy ‘Arry lives there. Very nice place but felt a bit plastic when I visited a couple of years back.

  12. It was at the height of the credit crunch, and the developer had gone into administration.

It ended up selling 18 months later for less than I offered.

You’re not very good with these things, Stan, so don’t get involved, yeah. A little knowledge in the wrong hands is a dangerous thing; you’ll get burned, mate.

  15. It’s a long story that I don’t want to share.

You’d have to understand how Administrations work, as well.

You should get the guy who bought the £1.75m house to negotiate for you.

  18. Ah, yes. The crooked world of patsies and backhanders!

It’s not really the kind of thing that I choose to get embroiled in, Stan.

Probably am going to buy a flat this year with girlfriend. 650-700k for a nice 2-bed garden flat. Overpriced but I don't want to spend any more money on rent.

Fortunately I have nearly paid off a house nearby which my ex and daughter live in, or I would be screwed for money!
