Since Pardew has admitted we are now in the market for a defender and things with Darnel Situ looking uncertain, would anyone take Scott Dann from Birmingham? Had a good season (as a player, not so much the team) and was raved about at the time and was apparently in talks with Arsenal, but nothing appears to have come of this. Saw on SSN that Blackburn were set to sign him today. Player worth trying to nick? Fits in with the clubs plans 24 year old, not french though Thoughts?
Didn't know he could play LB, bonus and if £5 mill is the asking price that about fits in with what we are paying out on players ATM.
I'd definitely take him but Tayls hasn't really done much wrong and Dann won't be happy with being back up. I think Ridgewell would be the better signing from Brum, will be cheaper and is an established LB.
He came through as a LB at walsall then was converted to a Centre Half. It seems only Blackburn are interested so we could get him no problem. We won't though!!

I wouldn't mind us going for Ridgewell. He'd be cheaper plus he played quite a bit at LB last season too.
Ive been saying that all summer. Its a no brainer for 3mil as long as we put all the effort into getting a striker in 1st!!! Plus Hughton is keen on Ranger and they are losing Jerome to Stoke so it could happen very easily!!
The problem with Ridgewell is the fact he is rubbish, he's a failed CB that got moved to LB cos Brum couldnt get one, makes loads of mistakes, would rather have Raylor as back up

I think that's a tad harsh. He looked decent enough last season and if he'd be willing to come here as a squad player I'd take a punt of him instead of having to rely on youth players when Colo/Saylor are out.
There's no way we'll get Cissokho unless they drop their asking price significantly, according to his agent, OL want £12m.
Couldn't see us going for Dann, when he moves it will be as a first choice. Nobody is going to be dislodging Colo, Tayls at present so complete non starter. Same for Ridgewell who I wouldn't want anyway as I think he is very average. They might consider playing 2nd fiddle at one of the big clubs but not us. I think Situ will be more in keeping and to be honest, more what we need. We have Willo who is dependable and experienced. Then if we had Kadar and Situ as 4th and 5th choice, that would be easily enough.
I'd really like us to sign Dann, but Taylor/Coloccini are our pairing and he would have to make do as cover
