Its great this by our fans.

    "we won't sign anyone"
"we'll sell everyone on the last day of the window"
    "we will only get loans"

Clubs sells players well before the window closes and is linked with new players.

"ah they're ****e and its all for profit"

We just lurch from one whinge to the next.

Don't tar everyone with the Jonjo and Ben brush. Though there are the two of them so I guess you are technically allowed to use the plural.

No there are a sane few and I enjoyed reading your bit of knowledge without whinge about the clauses etc. Cut through the bullshit that is clogging these pages at present.

2 good signings in my opinion. Assuming we sign Muto.

However, we lack that quality CM partner for Shelvey, a back up (though would prefer a first teamer) LB and competition for the AM position.

Seems like two good additions to me. A top notch CF is the dream but they are in short supply so that looks unlikely to happen. Hopefully there are a couple of other potential deals in the pipeline though.

If Muto is an alternative to Rondon then that's fine but if we're going to rely on him and/or Rondon to score the goals to keep us out of trouble then we could very well be paying for it.

Mind we chased Riviere and Thauvin for a while whereas I think Ba, Cabaye and Ben Arfa were a convenience at the time (injury record, release clause, injury and repuation)
I know what you mean, it's harsh to group him with Joselu and perhaps I was using the extreme, but the risks are still great and if it goes tits up you have people moaning R afa can't make good transfers. The actuality is it's due to going further down the list.
Don't get me wrong you seem to have a better idea on Mutto than me so it's reassuring you're saying he's a bargain

Two decent seasoned internationals on cracking fees.
Someone at the club has done their homework..
Muto reminds me of Son at Tottenham, similar career path, and if he turns out half as good, £9.5m will be a bargain.

Thiink Joselu was a completely different case - he really was a last minute desperation buy when it was clear we werent going to spaksh out on someone better.

Looking forward to seeing Muto play -Japanese players, while sometimes a bit lightweight, always have a great attitude and a fantastic work rate. Fact that he has been playing in Germany suggests he will be a good fit in the Premier League.

Joselu's record for three seasons before England, in Germany: 8,9,5

    Mutto:
    8,5,7.

    That's comparable

I am actually quite surprised we signed this lad given we still have mitro on the books. One of Gayle of mitro has to leave now.

Look, please don’t get me wrong this signing might turn out to be good. I just know nothing about him so I won’t slate it.

The proof will be in the pudding come the end of the season.

Number of goals per minute played and taking into consideration games started is a better approach. Not sure how that compares in this case but would say more relevant comparison.

You are quite right. But at least we are trying something different. I don't think I could stand another season of watching Joselu falling over without knowing at least we had a more stable replacement! I would also argue that Muto only really has 3 seasons in European Football so should still be improving.

Also would Joselu have scored this?

Its horses for courses. If Benitez thinks the likes of Joselu and Muto offer something he likes to his style of play, you just have to go with it. I'm sure he would rather a 25m striker arrived who was top of his list. However we are not that big a pull or that laden with cash clearly looking at recent accounts. So we're going after someone he likes and fits with his style, who is in within our budget.

Yep and add in the assists which, without bothering to look, I can imagine Muto does wipe the floor with Joselu. My worry is we will still need another striker or AM. According to Mainz fans you want a clinical AM behind him who he creates space for, we've been hoping for that for the past two years. Maybe if Perez hits the ground running this year?
Don't get me wrong it's a new player over 5m and we rarely get them, so I'm buzzing, just hope he's not the last transfer of the window as I don't want to be relying on this guy, Gayle and Joselu for goals.

Yeah you're right, it was a throwaway com ment that I've had to spend the last few comments defending!
I'll admit Joselu couldn't even score heroin in a city centre and this guy can only be better. Like his technical ability in YouTube vids but, still, you're always left asking how many times he's missed or lost the ball etc.

This ..always really like watching the Japanese national team play /Japanese playing here.. for those reasons ..technically seem very good as well

(I am choosing to refrain from expressing my like for the small, tricky, nippy type players too ..for obvious reasons)

He does tend to miss a few chances. It's why I feel we really need to sign a clinical striker too.
