Some very interesting posts today so thanks to everyone for making our forum something worth visiting and contributing to. Slight correction, Orta has blown it... What I don’t get is Rads genuinely thought last seasons squad were top 6 material... Error one was before we’d replaced Monk, we signed Sacko, every fan thought why oh why? TC took charge, we faltered so in comes Heck, a guy suggested by Orta and who we paid £500k for. We all witnessed what then followed and we looked like relegation material. Bielsa comes in, obviously says every transfer in and out goes through him, nobody seems good enough (who we can afford) and he ships out a load of surplus half signed by Orta. We try for several players this season, we waste time negotiating with players we can’t afford, we miss out on players like Jozefzoon as we are late to the party and when he goes to discuss terms at Derby he meets with Lampard whereas with us Orta does the negotiating, nobody gets to meet with the messiah. So the question is, what is Orta doing to justify his wage, he needs to be shown the exit door but Rads can’t see what money Orta has wasted?
I'm not sure I agree with the judgement of Orta. First of all, the man is given a budget & a list of positions to fill. Which he did. But if you take the £8.9 opening bid we've received for Saiz, this alone covers the cost of EVERY player he's signed. Does this not demonstrate that he's not only found at least one cracking player, but he's making the club money too, in the long run. Surely that's not wasting money? Sounds to me that he fulfilled his job description. (Not sure it's fair to include Sacko in this assessment, as there is every chance that the signing was part of the previous pre-Orta loan deal. As for this season, I've got no doubt that he had a considerable list of targets to start with & would be in varying states of negotiation for many of them. Bielsa comes in & says an emphatic 'NO' to them, so he has to start from scratch, months behind his normal schedule. I have to say I have some sympathy for the man.

When you say Orta had a budget and list of targets or positions, Orta created his own list of positions, Rads would not have said to him we need 5-6 midfield players. Orta wasted loads of money on players not fit to wear the shirt. When Monk left we were 3 players short of something special, Orta signed a dozen players when there was no need. The money we received for Wood and Taylor spent on what? Yes Saiz might be a good return but because someone is willing to pay £8m it doesn’t mean he is worth it, jury is out amongst many Leeds fans if Saiz has anything to offer other than a sell on fee and what about the money eaten up on 4 year contracts? Bielsa comes in and says no no no to all of Ortas targets, why would Bielsa do that if they were any good? Either Bielsa is wrong and should accept the targets or the targets are more Anita DeBock Grott Lasogga Antonsson and all the other garbage signed by Orta. I’m sorry but Orta got one possibly two signatures right out of 14/15 that isn’t acceptable. To not do your homework on Vydra and Hernandez and Stockdale is also inexcusable
