It shouldn't have been us...we lost to them at home 1-0 with a goal in the 83rd minute at a critical stage of the season. We need to stop covering up our deficiencies...we should have won the 6 pointer to break their backs. Then we had 2 chances within a few days to hit top spot, we didn't take them, we didnt have the minerals required. I don't think we were good enough
Still no new signings but I am not worried we have a good squad who should get better this season coco and moura are like 2 new signings and if Poch can get the best out of them we are in for another good season. All the negativity from the likes of that twat harry hotspur make me sick and they are supposed to be spurs fans
I disagree. Over the whole season we were the best team in the league that year. Leicester won a lot of games by 1 goal, often times without deserving to do so. We were pummeling teams. How many times has the team with the best goal difference NOT won the league?
For me it's about dealing with the games as and when they came trying to overcome the challenges presented. We failed at the crunch part of the season. I'd rather have beaten 6 teams 1-0 than to have beaten 2 or 3 teams 4-0/5-0. We were the most attractive on the eye without a doubt however we weren't the best at game management.
That very much sounds like some qualitative analysis right there I was bored so heres a stats table They won 4 more games 1-0 over you and generally was involved in games with quite a fair few goals. You did hand out more batterings to teams though
I just think the first team needs improving that's all..all the other happenings won't improve our first team...only adding quality to it will have the desired affect. Poch and Levy are only interested in the league and Champions league...so why not build a team to justify that thinking? Instead of adding to our League cup squad.
You been smoking that Sensi again Dona? Over two seasons we would have been champions therefore somewhere in there we were fekking unlucky.
1. 2015-16 Fact : Got Lesta'd at home. The week where we lost to the Spanners and drew the NLD. Misfortune : Having to play 4 consecutive games in the last 6 AFTER Lesta, which meant the team was always under pressure. 2. 2016-17 Fact : Meh first third of the season form, which meant we started the last half 13 pts behind Chelsky (who would have had to suffer an unbelievable collapse given they were then on a W13 run) .
We weren’t the best team though. Teams don’t win the league by mistake or luck. We came close but ultimately lacked seomthing to cross the line.
We've definitely been a much more entertaining and attacking side in the league over the past few years but ultimately if we're not winning the title then it means we weren't/ aren't the best. Doesn't matter if you win the most games in the division by 1 goal or 5, the outcome remains the same. The thing that amazed me about Leicester's winning season was their clinical ability. It was a joke how good their efficiency was in front of goal. IIRC, we were averaging around 7-10 shots on target per game and converting just 1 or 2. In comparison, Leicester were averaging between 2-4 shots on target and converting 1 or 2.
Don't get me wrong Dee, I love the team...we've had a great few seasons of fantastic football. We have amassed the most points etc but didn't win the thing. This suggests we were not picking up points relative to the challenge that our rivals were presenting us with. To me it keeps on bringing me back to the same point...game management and rising to the challenge when necessery. That's why we need first team additions that will bring that. Experienced winners...ill give you an example...the Juve game...that sums up THFC for me...over 180 minutes I reckon we dominated 150/60. The other 20/30...Juve did the business that counted a bit like Lesta and then Chelsea the season after during the campaign. We got nothing to show for our efforts, a bit of experience in the team might have focused the team on facing the challenge with a bit more savvy. All ifs and maybes though but for me the one thing that will make a difference is one or 2 first team additions. Therefore why are we not doing this? Finances? New stadium? Ok I get that...but I don't like bulking the squad up like it is supposed to sort our problems out due to some master plan we, the fans are not being made aware of. Give me 1 top quality player this summer to give our first team a boost, that's all. Levy needs to speculate to accumulate...or does he not have the confidence in our team paying dividends? If he doesn't trust them after what we have seen the last 3 seasons then he never will. I don't believe the stadium is a hindrance considering all the tV money flying about nowadays. We can buy Sissoko,Jansen and other middle of the road names for totals amounting to north of 60 mill...yet we won't buy one player who is worth 60 mill. I'm not saying pay it for a Richarlison...I'm talking about a player who has the talent. 80 mill Milenko Savic...or plod 20 mill here, 30 mill there, another 20 somewhere else. Makes no sense to me other than Levy playing the number game and not risking.
I kind of agree with what you are saying, one or two top notch players would certainly help, as would a good prospect or two. However, top players are not always available, one has to bide ones time. That is what Levy is normally good at. I am pretty confident there will be new arrivals before the 9th August, it's just the 9th August in which year is the question
It's been the wages. Having an income of at least £100m less than your competitors means that we could not pay the wages that others did, even if we could afford the transfer fees. If we paid one player double what Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen were on, the next day the whole lot would be in to see MP demanding their money be doubled. We spend about 60% of whatever we earn in wages, hence the recent huge rises for HK, Sonny, Erik Lamela, etc. because our income has dramatically increased. You can't spend 120% of your income for very long. The banks don't like it.
Probably why Levy always leaves signings until late. 10 weeks salary at 120k/wk = 1.2 million. An easy place to save a few pennies.
But having those players in earlier would give them a proper pre season instead of joining late and then taking until January to get settled.
Very true but when one is short of money, every little bit helps. As Brian has said one cannot spend 120% of income otherwise there are bad times ahead. As with most peoples budget, there needs to be a balancing act. We do not all have the finances of Sheik - bin - ali - Ethiad Airways (ask HBIC for his proper title) or Roman Agrobramovich
