It’s not bad once you consider sales. Forget windows. We don’t spend in January unless we have to. Most clubs try to avoid it. 33m plus sales is manageable if you sign well and the manager does a good job. It will be hard to progress but that is what the youth system is for, to supplement it.
So why aren't we investing in the youth set up? One of the major problems as to why Rafa isn't signing... But £33m is laughable. Promoted clubs alongside us are nearly spending that on players now and we should be happy with that?
The chronic lack of investment in the academy is telling. Something that the Ashley naysayers cannot argue away.
I think we will invest in the training and academy but again Rafa wants that set up his way. So before we go doing as he wants we need to know he’s staying. Otherwise the next manager comes in and says no I don’t want it like that, I want it like this. Further unneeded expense. A lot hinges on the manager signing. Every day that passes where he plays this game with Ashley, hurts the club.

You could be right . The Mitrovic situation is that personal terms have been agreed with the player, and he is due a medical on Wednesday, however reports are surfacing that your boy wonder Lee is hawking Mitrovic on the continent, presumably in the hope of getting a better offer.By doing this he is entering shark infested waters, Our CEO Alastair MacIntosh is getting increasingly irritated by the posturing of Lee Carsley and is now looking at tabling a bid of 26 mil for Real Sociedad's Willlan Jose. How is that going to help Rafa if the Mitrovic deal collapses? Does Charnley and, more importantly Rafa, really want Mitrovic rocking up at your training ground tomorrow? The other strange aspect of this deal is that Ashley appears to want us to pay the 20 mil in instalments - what's that all about?
Its obviously a cunning plan to allow him to live up to his promise of giving Rafa access to all the cash we have available while holding some back for a rainy day. Bet the installments are spread over 5 years with 2mill upfront.
Perhaps Willian Jose is our target and Fulham know this, so are trying to force us to sell cheap. The rumour is they only want to pay 16m and we only want 18m. Fulham are low balling us big time if this is true. What would our fans say if we were doing it "its deliberate as they don't want to him really"
Wonder what the fans would be willing to pay for a 23 year old international who scored his first world cup goal this year and banged in 12 goals in 17 appearances last season in the Championship. 3rd top for GPM last season in the Championship considering he hadn't played for 6-8 months prior. (2nd to Grabban who got 20 in 44 games and Vydra 21 in 40).
I love Rafa but he's the only real reason Mitrovic is being sold. I'm willing to point the finger at Ashley for most of the **** we deal but this one is not on him.
The low-ball offers we're receiving can partially be laid at Mike's door though for witholding funds to such a degree that clubs know we are desperate.
I'd disagree. I think Rafa has shafted us into only getting £5m for Mbemba. He told the lad not to bother coming back ffs. So you have a player who knows he's not wanted so is wanting out, a (champions league) team who want him (wonder what they see there) and a Gafa who has refused to have him back - that is why we got the piss ripped out of us by Porto.
Without the contribution from Mitrovic during the second half of last season we would almost certainly still be in the championship. Promotion to the premiership is worth in excess of 100 mil. We reportedly valued him at between 18-20 mil so it is hard to understand why our CEO is behaving like a trader in a Morocco souk. It saddens me to say that we are emerging from this fiasco with little credit. I realise that you see Ashley and Charnley as being responsible for the uncertainty surrounding your club, however in this instance they are blameless. The person to blame is our grandstanding CEO. Instead of paying the 18 mil valuation we are reportedly looking to screw you for a further 2 mil,and in so doing are depriving you of much needed funds to strengthen your squad. I hope your CEO has the'bottle' to stand up to this financial bullying and hold out for 18 mil which is a more than a fair price for a player who made our season.
Not going to end well.....for Ashley. The twitter and internet lunatics are now talking about serious, physical action and harm. He really has underestimated the club and region.
Please let us blame our owner - I don’t think I could cope with someone else contributing to our problems.
He’s a tool. He has basically single handedly devalued the club by being this way. This standoff between him and Rafa is going to end in tears. And it won’t be Rafas! I don’t understand why he does not realise in this day and age in football you have to invest in the future or we go backwards!
https://www.tifofootball.com/video/finances-explained-newcastle-united/ Absolutely damning. Guys a ****ing crook.
That's one take on it. One very biased take on as evidenced by the negative outlook at the end. You can't really be taking this as anything other than a bunch of cretins with an agenda.
