Apparently, he had the problem in the second half of last season, which would go a long way to explaining his lack of minutes and form for Villa at that time. His stock has diminished in the last couple of years but he's only what, 21 or so? That's no age for a player who s still maturing and plays in a very physically demanding position. He's a big talent. His preferred position is akin to centre half. It's not really a position to learn the game in the PL. centre halves tend to learn as full backs whilst they develop the physical strength and game reading skills. Likewise, Josh Onomah's not yet ready to go up against Kante, or Pogba and the like and probably why MP tried to play him as a more attacking player, further up the pitch. However, that may not be the case in a year or two, when he's more ready to mix it.
I take it Rose got a poor reaction from the squad? I'm taking heroes as sarcasm? If so surely Toby is on the right side (for me anyway) and if it was someone else going public then i fail to see what he's done wrong. Can someone put me right?
Apparently, the opposite. It's been reported that he was greeted as a returning hero by the dressing room. This much was 'out there' in the immediate fallout following the article being published. I definitely recall it being said that all/the vast majority of the players were supportive of Danny Rose and his comments... https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4218627/danny-rose-applauded-interview-team-mates/
As I made up the Toby phone vid stuff, no more proof needed that I should not submit you all to "ITK" torture (and merely leave you to the clown that is the Isco kid) .
Spurs and DL have to be realistic. Those players had finished 3rd and 2nd in the PL and were on wages that were significantly less than players at clubs getting nowhere near that level. I doubt that many of them would have given the interview or come out publicly to add to the issue but cheer the bloke who stuck it to the man? Yeah, I can see many of them doing that, some genuinely and some mockingly in the belief that he'd spend the next year in solitary confinement. I'd expect the same if he got caught cheating on his Mrs and it was all over the papers, bought a sensible car or he had a really, really stupid haircut [for a footballer]. It blew over fairly fast because nobody came out and backed him publicly or demanded a transfer allowing the thing to blow over.
If the Sun was to be believed we'd have about 6 new signings this transfer window. More bullsh!te than a herd of Fresians with diarrhea.
Sure. As I said...."It's been reported....". I've no idea what goes on within the club but I've been in a number of dressing rooms. Anyone who does anything stupid gets a huge cheer. The more stupid, the bigger the cheer. Whether people think Rose is a hero or a dickhead, I'll bet that he did get an enormous reception. It can be interpreted in a number of ways. The Sun have gone with an interpretation that could be right for none, one, some or all of the players. Who knows? It would have lasted for seconds and means **** all, unless you're selling a newspaper to Gooners on the back of it.
Janssen in talks with Fener over a second loan move. Hopefully this one has an obligation to buy if he plays X amount of games.
Considering we received £5m last season for his loan (as confirmed by Fener's president) if we receive a similar amount this season that means we break even if he ends up moving for £8m - and that's assuming we paid his initial fee in one lump sum, rather than pad it out with add-ons etc.
I personally don’t THINK he’s a dickhead - I KNOW it! But on the subject of Janssen, can’t we just keep this loan thing going for another 3 OR 4 years - at £5m a year we are on a winner
So, a couple of weeks or so left. What are we thinking? Is a massive deal out of left field about to come our way? Will Levy silence all of the people slagging him off? Let’s remember Poch signed a new contract, so must have been given some assurances, especially regarding his comments about early transfers. We’re also moving into a new stadium and it’ll add huge publicity. Has Levy promised Poch a bale-like transfer but told him that it may take some time? Or is it just another standard window? Business done late. No “£150m warchest” that we were led to believe. Uninspiring signings where we miss a trick. I honestly believe it’s going to be the latter, but part of me feels that this is just too much of an opportunity to pass up 1 top drawer signing at least.
Doubt it. Hoped it would be Bale (though I'd rather have Modric) , but both Zidane and CR7 gone means that was nothing more than a fools hope on paper.
It’s impossible! Dreams of 1 or 2 early signings haven’t happened. Most players we’ve been linked with have gone elsewhere. Now we’re 2 weeks away with no one. Not even rumours of anyone massive that would understandably take a long time to sort out. And let’s face it, if there was a huge signing on the cards, something would have leaked by now. I’m actually more baffled by this window than any other. I don’t get my hopes up in general about big name transfers at spurs, because they just aren’t what we do. VDV was a 1 off fluke. But something felt different about this one with the new stadium and the obscene PL money.
I'm with Roo.... "another standard window? Business done late. No “£150m warchest” that we were led to believe. Uninspiring signings where we miss a trick"
