DF's view: “In general, it’s a pretty smart deal,” Farke told the club’s official site. “After Angus (Gunn) left us, we were searching for another goalkeeper and when there’s a chance to sign a guy like Tim Krul you have to try to do this because he’s a very experienced player at this level. He’s played over 150 games in the Premier League. He’s 30-years-old has been involved in World Cups and played eight games for the Dutch national team." This really does round off the squad, bringing in quality we thought we couldn't afford. What an excellent window this has been.
Krul's view: “I’m really happy and really pleased it’s all done. It’s really nice to sign on the dotted line and I can’t wait to get started. I spoke with the manager and people at the club and it moved very quickly. That’s one of the reasons it happened fast and I like it when somebody is interested properly and they don’t mess about. The manager rang and explained everything – what his plans were, what he expected of me – and I really liked what I was hearing. He said he knew what my qualities were and that he was keen to get me back to the level I was at before my injury. It’s a new start. It feels like a new kickstart in my career. I’ve done what I’ve done and I just can’t wait to show what I’m worth on the pitch again.” http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/krul-player-reaction-1-5621883
This is now the 3rd transfer window that SW/DF have been involved with and if any Canaries' fan is still disappointed ...... Yes, Pinto, Basil may still go; Jarvis - Nuff said and we're still paying most of Naismith's inflated salary, but compared to pre SW/DF IMO, we have a squad for the future!! Edit - Feel a little sorry for Remi, but very happy with Krul.
Even if Oliveria moved on I can’t see NCFC bringing in another striker. The squad looks good on paper, so here’s hoping for a better season than last. Top six?
Top half would be nice. Don't know yet if DF has the management and tactics for top 6 yet. I've not seen much that makes me think he can. I'm excited for the new season, because I like a lot of the signings, feels like a bit of a refresh.
The 1 shirt was vacant after Gunn's departure, but it still feels a bit of a statement to me for Krul to be shown with it before this season's squad numbers are confirmed. Really pleased with the addition, however I'm far from getting ahead of myself with expectations for the season ahead. We were fortunate to have one of the best 'keepers in the league last season, we don't know how good Krul is going to be. Our defence is basically unchanged. Better RB options, but the porous centre needs addressing. Arguably this needs to be solved by managerial nous not signings. We're well stocked for DM options, however Farke's favoured 4-1-4-1 was leaky when used last season - will the defence have adequate cover? This time last season we were looking at being able to deploy an attacking trio of Murphy, Maddison and Pritchard - will Hernandez, Leitner and another offer the same quality? 12 months ago we had a £12m striker and a seasoned championship warhorse up front. Whose to say Pukki and Rhodes are going to perform any better? I'm optimistic, I really am. I'm astonished how well we've recruited on paper, and really hope it can be translated into performances. Whilst the team needs to gel, this is now 95% a Farke side. Klose is the last of the previous regime who is guaranteed to be in every match day squad. By December I really hope we start to see the promise translating into performances.
Can't argue with ANY of that DH and I'm HOPING that we don't concede 4 goals in ANY games next season!!!! I still don't feel that 4-1-4-1 is our best formation, but DF has shown that he is willing to bring on a 2nd striker so in pre-season - will he be willing to do that from 4th August onwards????? I'd also like to see a slightly different starting 11 for home and away games!! #gettingexcited
I was wondering about Raggett. I didn't hear much of him in pre-season except for the own goal. This leaves us with Klose, Zimm, Handley and Godfrey who can play CB. I don't think that's enough.
Here's one we'll defo have to manage without! The Pink Norwich City defender Sean Raggett is reportedly close to a loan move to Championship new boys Rotherham United.
Looks like another waste of money on a young player that will hang around in the youth, get loaned out, then released on a free.
