I'd have to go with Kylie, because it's kind of counterintuitive.

Correct, she was born in May 1968 making her 50. Australia's first world cup win was in 1991. The opera house opened in October 1973.

My grandad, who died in 1971, taught me chess and cribbage and would talk me through his collection of Wills cigarette cards, including the story of the SS Princess Alice, which is still lodged in an obscure corner of my memory, probably because it was so gruesome.

I remembered the name and looked it up. Unless a fully staffed Royal Navy ship or a convict hulk went down I reckon it will be hard to top the c650 who died when this boat was wrecked by a much larger one near Woolwich.

    Just found the picture.

    Well done Stan...

They were on a day trip to Dungeness. When she inexplicably turned across a dredger and was cut in half. The loss of life was compounded by the fact that they were discharging raw sewage into the Thames st that point.

The Ss Princess Alice disaster changed the way ships pass each other in tidal water....and the rules about sewage discharge.
    Take it away Stan
