Bloody hell mate, that's like cutting off your right arm! Why didn't you go into private tutoring to make up the cash flow, or was there no money in it back in them days?
I suppose I could have done, but when I knew I had to quit I decided a clean break was the best thing to do. I just tried to bury it.
I still play, but only for mates ( parties and stuff) or if I really like the music. if it’s for mates, then We’ll play whatever they want to hear. I’m too old to compromise now and I don’t need the money. So, if I don’t like the music I don’t play.
Such a waste fella. But hey all came good for yer. I got a mate made an absolute fortune at it, funny enough now lives out your way, don't laugh but in....Madrid!
Had a few years of thst, mate. Standing there thinking to myself ‘ Why the **** am I standing here playing this ****e?’ ‘Oh yeah, I’m getting paid’.
**** me if i'd taken that attitude to work i would have worked for , at most , 2 years instead of the 34 i managed before my body finally said enough is enough.
Big difference between work and love of music. With NSIS i never meant from a work perspective, but he answered it from one anyway, so take your point. For me music is in your soul.
oh i understood where you going. I just have this thing about people saying " i could only do a job i enjoy" which just makes me think " well you'll probably deservedly end up homeless". My first job was working for the Department of Stealth and Total Obscurity and mates of mine said "how can you work for them" to which i simply replied "they offered to pay me ".
Yeah i picked up on the bit where he said he was too old to compromise, so was agreeing in context of that. But yeah agree on your other point, if it pays the bills you fooking do it.
Pretty much the situation I was in, As much as I’ve always loved music, it was also my living. And with others to think about and other mouths to feed apart from your own, you do what you have to do, not what you’d like to do.
