Good Morning Everyone Could Saiz be on the move? Not if Bielsa has his way! Leeds have turned down offers of 7m and 10m Euro's! “Before unfounded rumours place Samu Saiz with SD Huesca: Getafe has made an offer of €7m for the player and Valencia another [offer]of €10m. Both have been rejected by Leeds United. Bielsa trusts Samu and he has no intention of leaving.” It begs the questions, who's going to be dropped from midfield? Hernandez, Saiz, Dallas, Baker, Viera, Alioski, Forshaw, Ideguchi, Clich, Phillips. Assuming O'Kane, Murphy and Sacko are on the move, we still have 10 midfielders vying for starting positions. Thoughts? After a six month wait, we finally caught a glimpse of Tyler Roberts yesterday. The 19 yo came on for the last 30 minutes and showed some good movement. After the game, he left with an icepack on his shin which he said was a precautionary measure - we will see! Is Kemar Roofe too lightweight to perform a centre forwards role? Does he get bullied of the ball too much? Do Leeds need better then Roofe up front? If so, why havn't Leeds accepted the Baggies 7m offer for him? James McClean has signed for Stoke for 5m! Bargain, or problem waiting to happen? The Sun are reporting that Leeds are keen on signing Oldham's Tom Hamer. Right back Hamer 18, is also said to be attracting Premier League interest. Leeds have finally signed Bulgarian stopper Dimitar Sheytanov! In fact he actually played the second half of the Ossett Utd game, though according to the teamsheet his name was Georgia! Georgia it appears is a codeword for young Bulgarian!
Morning all... Despite the mixed opinions of Phillips I think it’s pretty obvious Bielsa is going to be using him as the defensive midfielder, dropping into the back 3 when we are defending or someone is caught out of position. Dallas is the player at risk for me, he is playing the left wingback/midfield role and we are continually being linked with players in that position. I can’t see Vieira or Ideguchi featuring too much if I’m honest, Baker is another strange on. Assuming we’re going to play the 3-3-3-1 then as things stand and looking at what Bielsa has done so far I’d assume... Berardi Pontus Cooper Dallas Phillips Ayling Hernandez Saiz Alioski Roberts It concerns me where Forshaw would fit, I’m surprised he isn’t the defensive midfield player, Roofe on the bench and if I’m honest, a pretty weak looking team.
Morning ristac, the Baker signing seems strange to me too. The lad must be on at least 20k a week. Why sign him? I'd be surprised if Viera isn't used much, but where? Dallas can play anywhere on the pitch (apart from goal)
Good Morning to Matt and co from another sunny Cote de Bardsey When I watched part of the game I noticed that Roberts was looking at his right leg as if it was causing him some discomfort.I hope I.m wrong but as I keep saying when I scout I watch for all these things so I am not surprised he left with an ice pack .Lets hope its not to serious but I fear the worst for the lad who looked bright energetic and had good feet but not a leader so we still need a striker and a winger as Alioski was not at the races Marriot and Madison spring to mind and we needa tall CB .I Was pleased with Forshaw and Ayling but the stream was useless and I failed to see the beginning nor the last 10 minutes Saiz seemed to me with his mind elsewhere so I would sell him and the money would buy Maddison and Madison and leave us with a better balanced team We still have money to buy a proper striker and a CB
Missed Forshaw starting and I assume Hernandez was dropped? Did Forshaw play at number 10 or was it one of those formations which didn’t make much sense?
That looks even worse than I thought! None of the back 3 are good enough to pass the ball out and defend the high ball or tackle when confronted by pace. Only Ayling is remotely good enough in that wing back DM trio Hernandez and Saiz weren't good enough in tandem last year and will be worse /slower this term. Alioski the diving, cheating moaning cnut is only liked by other moaning droning cnuts and Roberts leading the line.. we are fooked. This team would be relegated... I can only hope you are wrong but can't see why you would be...
Morning Mike, looks like Madison wants to go to Derby, though they have already had 3 offers rejected. Probably too late for Leeds.................... again
In modern day football with astronomical transfer fees and players wages bearing no relation to their actual ability it's time to think outside the box. The last person to do it successfully pulled together a squad of journeymen and troublemakers, sprinkled it with a tiny bit of quality and not only got out of this league but went on to win the old 1st Division title and 2 European Cups. It's entirely possible providing supporters are willing to embrace the possibility rather than pour scorn at the earliest opportunity both at the stadiums and across the various forums. We now have a top quality coach and he must be given unequivocal support both on and off the pitch to mould the team into a successful unit.
Just out of interest, I would like to know how many players have genuinely been linked to us and how much was lazy journo It must be 3-4 players a day since the transfer window opened, I wonder how many of those our board actually made contact and enquired about availability. None of us want the scatter gun approach of Orta ever again but I find it hard to understand why we have secured just two loan signings so far and lets be honest, it is extremely debatable if the two loans are any better than what we already have. Are we too slow because of the thorough approach by Bielsa? Lets take Jozefzoon as an example, his people ask if we are interested, Orta looks at the cost and thinks yes he is affordable, the player is offered to Bielsa who understandbly would need to watch a few hours of footage as he wouldn't have knowledge of UK based players and by the time he has said yes sign him up the player has agreed terms and had his medical at Deby? Someone else pointed out the other day, with our now much improved scouting network why haven't we a possible signature already in mind when Bielsa tells Orta I need a right footed CB who is good in the air and with ball at feet? Has something like this already happened and Bielsa has been offered 4-5 new faces and he has turned them all down in a "must do better" stance? It just feels like something is majorly broken, we knew Lasogga was going back, we knew Grot, Ekuban and probably Roofe are not good enough to lead the line and we knew Roberts is injury prone, we didn't need to wait for Bielsa to join in order to have a list of genuine possible targets ready to be snapped up on day one, surely the hunt for a new striker began the moment we missed out in the January transfer window ...
Good afternoon Matt & all On the evidence so far I think you can narrow the midfield down somewhat Hernandez, Saiz, Dallas, Baker, Vieira, Alioski, Forshaw, Phillips. Saiz doesn't deserve his place yet, Baker may need more time....who knows !Yes far too lightweight as is Saiz & Alioski.....remember these three attacking options played in many games last season & struggled to break championship defences down, we had a scoring problem, we still have. All three are easily bullied off the ball ! Roofe We need a proper striker with power & pace, someone who can makes goals for himself, someone who can hit the target eight times out of ten, someone who can score with his head as well as his feet, a striker that puts the fear of god in defences
I haven't looked and would never place the bet but anything better than 3/1 looks generous as it stands .
