Les Kellett - Kellett was in his late fifties when he became a national superstar in the United Kingdom for his wrestling performances on the programme âWorld Of Sportâ. Although he had a tendency to look and act like a clown his toughness became legendary. His craziness is shown by the fact that he lived in a hovel somewhere on the Yorkshire moors without electricity or running water. He did once own a pig farm and on one occasion one of the pigs bit him on the hand which caused considerable swelling. During his next wrestling bout, Kellett ordered his opponent to stamp on his hand and the walls were sprayed with blood and pus. It is impossible to find any other wrestler of the time to say a good word about Kellett and rumours of him being involved in satanic rituals abounded. please log in to view this image
Another candidate - William 'Fatty' Foulkes A goalkeeper for the English national football team at the dawn of the 20th century, Foulkes gained the nickname of ‘Fatty’ due to his colossal size, he regularly topped the scales at 25 stone. He once attacked a fellow player because his tray of half-time pies went missing. It is claimed that during games it was rather common for Foulkes to pick up opposing players and stand them on their head. Many fans would shout abuse at him due to his size and weight but Foulkes was not put off by this, in fact he once claimed that he did not care what the fans said about him as long as they don’t call him late for lunch. On another occasion Foulkes chased a referee out of the dressing room and to the main entrance of the stadium while stark naked. please log in to view this image
