Sadly our team is currently worse than it was this time last year. Hopefully our manager not being incompetent will be enough to get us out of trouble.

 

To put it in perspective, ignoring interest I could live for 266 years at my present level by drawing down from a 4 million nest egg. Now I appreciate that younger people would have more outgoings than me (house, kids etc) but still a lovely sum.

 

So we have to sell to buy, okay I can live with that. We are paying the price for some extreme contract rewards. But, as we have seen, if you don't do that, you can lose out on millions, some you win and some you lose.
But we should all take great heart in the way the club have acted early in this window. That has sent a message that the new owner has real intent to get us back into calmer waters. We didn't have that luxury of knowledge three months ago.

 

This time last year VvD was on strike, we didn't have Hoedt or lemina and had Davis as a DM. Jay was already gone. And we had Forster as our first choice GK. If you want to say Ely is downgrade on tadic then okay though i think its a bit soon but I'm not sure how we are worse off than last year other than that.

 

Mind you, if you were to live for 266 years....... you'd still be waiting for Saints transfer policy to please ALL on here

 

I could still see someone panic buying Bertrand and/or Cedric in the last few days of the window. And we can sell players to Europe after the PL deadline.

 

Reed,Gallagher,Clasie,Fraz (maybe Stephens )will be loaned out.....and I expect Long to be sold.
Then we will sign a Jay Rod style winger/striker.

 

Hughes indicated that nobody would leave after our window shuts and i assumed this included any foreign transfers. I agree with this and expect Forster, Classie and Gallagher to be gone by then at the very least.

 

Ok, a few weeks early. I meant start of last season. We need a better than okay window after a dire season. We have no creativity and haven't bought any. There is still time, but disappointing we have farmed out £30m of recent signings for £0 and now will have to sell just to get players we desperately need.

I think this is just a squad size thing rather than just finances (although it never hurts to say there's little money left when bidding for players). Hughes has never liked operating with a huge squad so wants to clear out players he doesn't think we need before strengthening the first team squad further. Completely sensible. I still expect us to sign another 2.

 

I agree. To me we have too many 1st teamers already so we need to shift a few. Nothing to do with money just numbers. Doesn't look like anyone is that imminent as they are all off to France.

They haven’t bought anyone of any substance though have they. Moutinho has never cut it where ever he’s been ,though fair enough he’s a solid player , na I still think they’ll be bottom 3rd next season.
