Have you ever drank in the Henley Arms mate? That comes under North Woolwich I think, near the airport? When me and a pal went to London for a weekend a few years back we thought we'd try some dodgy pubs and this one came up in every list I found online so we went there... what a ****ing ****hole that was, even had a caravan in the car park ffs I'll find a pic in a sec.

I can't say I have mate. By the time I started going to pubs I was living in Lewisham, so my regular was the Fox and Firkin. Was a really good and well known pub, they used to have loads of great reggae and indie bands playing down there. Good vibe. One of the skankiest pubs I went in was called the Fanny on the Hill in Welling. It was ****ing rough and used to be a meeting place for BNP members. Horrible place. I think they closed it down because the landlord was selling alcohol to underage drinkers, but I'm pretty sure that was leverage to shut the place down because of the right wing element.
Moved up in '69 so they had just been built then as had the new estate that was all named after English poets (we lived in Bacon Close and my parents still do). My older Sister lived on the top (24th) floor of Canberra Towers for a few years, used to get motion sickness up there on a windy day!...... Yeah, just what Weston needed a ****ing Dominos, as they aren't all obese and diabetes ridden enough! I was smart enough to get away as soon as I could..
Was born a few minutes drive from here Ended up here That's a job centre by the pub, which they recently built. We grew up a lot further down opposite side to the pub. Used to be nice as there was emstreets all down into town, but the knicked loads down for the dual carriageway and potteries shopping centre
Yeah definitely smart mate, one of the few areas in Soton I'd never live. My ex's sister lives in Canberra and the whole building is ****ed, will have to come down soon for sure. Be a ****ing nightmare trying to move so many people though and with the school there. Like I say it's a shame really as being so close to the water it could have been a really nice area but now all anyone from a boat will see is 6 great ****ing tower blocks.
Yeah mate a proper ****ing ****hole, distinctly remember my mate saying as we got there "nah **** off mate, we can't go in there" It wasn't actually too bad to be fair, I remember a guy in his 60s staring me out as soon as I walked in and outside there was a guy in late 30s wearing a tracksuit constantly on his phone. He knew every single person who walked past in the hour we were there without exception whether it be an elderly Asian couple or a group of young hoodrats. Dodgy ****. I never really felt on edge though and we went in about 2/3 on a Friday. Bet it would have been different a few hours later... Oh and the first taxi company we rang wouldn't pick us up from there
Now you say that it rings a bell actually, don't think the whole building was affected though and as they were planning regeneration of a lot of council estates in Soton anyway they pulled it down. Might be wrong though as this was around 5 years ago and I've drunk a lot of alcohol in that time
Pretty quiet where I lived. This friggin neighbour never turned his lights off though please log in to view this image And this neighbour always left his bloody gate open please log in to view this image Aside from my out of control neighbours, my neighbourhood was usually okay.
I grew up in a leafy suburb in one of England's beautify Home Counties. It was Hellish, at times. One Summer, we had a gentleman of the street (some of you might refer to him as a "tramp") wander into the High Street. We had to have him removed by the local constabulary. Don't try to tell me that I haven't suffered, please.
Gurnos in Merthyr. please log in to view this image I went to college in Merthy and a mate lived there so bunked off a lot up the Gurnos.
