Gradel's off to St.Etienne and we get Lansbury from Arsenal (season long loan) and Lichaj (permanent) Thoughts?
I'd rather both permanent. If we replace Gradel with a loanee, I'll still be pissed off. Here's a different scenario - the clubs inform clubs at the start of July, way before the season starts, that Gradel is available for transfer. He moves on for a better fee than we've got now (Gradel's clearly forced the move) and the club have 2 months to replace him. We get in a few quality defenders and replace him properly with the money. But SG and Kenny Bates don't plan ahead, so now we'll scrap some loanne with a hour left to go. I really doubt Lichaj will come back, Lansbury's played in the last 2 games for Arsenal so they need him as well.
Lansbury sounds like a prima donna version of Bradley Johnson and Lichaj won't improve the team's defending. We need a bloody leader at centre back and a proper experienced head in central midfield to partner the youthful exuberance of Adam Clayton. Maybe Michael Brown will turn out to be that figure, but early signs suggest he's past it. I don't think there will be any roses to grow from the ashes of this particular disaster. It's like the saying 'it's all good', except it's all bad.
No!! Neither are available. There has been no planning to this sale other than for Bates to move the cash to Monaco or the Caymans. END OF!!
Why sell Gradel to get those two, we should have been looking to get those kind of players as well as keeping Gradel if we want promotion. **** Bates, he is ****ing Leeds dry and **** grayson too for being a ****ing lap dog
I agree with Leeds-18. We need an experienced leader at the back, (not a good defender on his last legs..AOB) I fear not enough time to get anyone in. Agree also that they should be permanent. Let's hope the exodus hasn't started, as SG isn't convincing anyone decent to join is he? I like SG but the defending situation is ****e and this is another opportunity to blow some more cash on replacement in a position we don't need to focus on strengthening. Everyone has a price so lets hope we get a positive from a negative but all is gloomy with 26 hrs to go until deadline..... Fingers crossed for a messiah to come!
My support for Grayson went down a notch or two after the Ipswich defeat and it has gone down a few more now. I couldn't give a toss at the moment if Grayson was in charge or not. He has had long enough to sort the defence out and bring in new faces now with 24 hours to go we are another player down.... About time he stood his ground rather than allow this ****e to continue
i would have toagree...ive backed Larry 100%but feel a bit let down tonight As for Bates i also felt that way for him...now i just feel down that he is running our club.... **** **** ****......
My thoughts exactly Spanish.... I'm pissed off now........ but I know by midnight tomorrow I'll be just plain angry. Selling the crown jewels and replacing them with baubles / fresh air.
seeing's as your having a fire sale...anything worth us having? we after a striker cheap.....just think ,you can have even more executive boxes...great..
So it's Graysons fault that the ungrateful french/ivory coast bollocks handed in a transfer. We saved him from the Leicester reserves, he nearly ****ed our promotion up. If he thinks that the froggie league will better his career well he's in for a shock. It's Bates who is ****ing this club up.
Remember our deadline is the loan deadline not the real transfer deadline as we dont spend money Bates out
Last season our scoring made up for our hopeless defending. This season we sign one old midfielder, replace two goalies, get rid of two centre midfielders and when our main striker gets crocked we, er, loan in someone with a 1 in 4 scoring record. As a result, our scoring fails to exceed the defence letting goals in and the record stands at 1-1-3. So then we sell our best winger who scored 18 goals last year. Looks like Nunez is going to have to get a good run out now since he's the only person going to score from midfield. As he's a centre midfielder, not a winger, who is going to play in there with him? Brown, Howson, Clayton? Or will Grayson try to play him on the wing?
He'd have stayed at United if we'd made him an offer at the appropriate time (anywhere between January 2011 and July). Sadly our cretinous board have an entrenched policy of only attempting to sign players in the last year of their contract (i.e. the time when they're most likely to want to leave), so Gradel was forced to scope out moves to France when Leeds insultingly failed to offer him a new contract.
We actually did try to start negotiations in that time and he had an interview saying that he wanted to wait until the end of the season to discuss contracts because it would be too distracting if i recall correctly. We still shoulda offered him a contract at the end of the season though
