The way things are at the moment, Southend United most likely. I would put Charlton between 9th and 13th in May next year, Southend between 6th and 10th. Unless we strengthen, we will struggle to have a better season than Oxford United, let alone Southend.
That’s poor how can you do that?? As bad as it is I couldn’t do that bet for financial gain. Glad you wasn’t around in WW2!
Hard nosed realism. I think we’ll be in the relegation zone come Sept looking at our squad & opening fixtures. I’ll still be supporting what’s left of the team but at the aways - starting at Sunderland
So your saying in September now rather than at end of season , or we’ll be there end of September and stay there till the end of season ? I agree we are seriously weak squad wise but still think we have enough there to be mid table with bowyer at the helm. Hope your 14-1 comes in not!
His name is Lee Bowyer, not Paul Daniels. What happens when any one of Solly, Page or Pearce gets injured ?
I like Bowyer but he can only use the tools he is given. If we have the same injury problems as last Season we will be forced to play a team of U23s. That will not end well.
The odds are already shortening then. 2 or 3 weeks ago I was quoted 20/1 but couldn't bring myself to take the money.
the reason i posted this is that southend seem to be doing what a football club should be doing. they have a manager who is backed with a proven track record at this level, they have young players who are hungry. they seem to be doing the exact opposite to us in every regard, and will finish higher in the league for it. my main concern about this is the decision to leave southend to go to sleeping giants chartlon would never usually even take a seconds thought. but come the end of the season i think they could be the better club. and then @Royston Vasey will never get his SCP back
You can still get 16/1 at William Hill on us getting relegated, only 7/2 for promotion, Sarfend 4/1 relegation 8/1 promotion. The bookies aren't usually wrong, but these odds will change before too long. It's getting harder to resist the 16/1 I must admit. With it looking more and more likely that we'll have Roland for another season, the January window will see our squad being further weakened, and if Bowyer walks the future would be bleak, so a few quid at the end of it would be some consolation.
I have placed a bet with Paddy Power at 18/1. I don't like doing it but it was too good an offer to turn down.
I’ve backed us to go down, £25 at 16/1. If this carries on for another 2-3 weeks Bowyer will need the divining powers of Billy Graham.
I think if you fancy profiting from Charlton getting relegated, you'd better get on it pretty soon. Can't see odds of 16/1 or 18/1 lasting much longer.
