I'm a decent human who believes in compassion, green issues, humanitarianism, sex and race equality and peace for all nations. I work and pay my taxes, I recycle glass, plastic and paper/cardboard and I wash and shave every day...why do I deserve to die, Jasper?

    *I also HATE reality TV.

Ah right. Being one of the few subjects on which I can speak with any great level of knowledgeable confidence I tend to take 'destroy the planet' literally, as opposed to 'destroy all life' or 'destroy practically all human life' :emoticon-0157-sun:
As to where I've been, I've been about. Look in the Music thread for a couple of postings in the last month. I've helped build up a faltering Youtube channel into a major one of over 625K subbbers. Plus I started and closed down my own one in the space of 7 months. That got to about 3.5K before I gave it the heave-ho. Youtube doesn't like medium sized YT channels, it appears, and besides it was taking up too much of my time. I've now been on Instagram for the past week, doing the same thing, but in a more relaxed way. It's fun, and it provides entertainment for my followers and old subbers [when they find me again].

*I don't actually want to die for the future of the planet. I am actually ego-centric enough to think that the enormous majesty of the Earth deserves sentient life to appreciate it. Otherwise what is life but a fungus on a giant space rock?

Why do we all have to die just because there are a minority of arseholes out there? Seems a bit extreme. Wouldn't it be better to try to stop them?

There are far more good and decent humans than evil ones thankfully. But when a news story like that comes out it’s easy to forget that.

Apparently levels of myopia (short-sightedness) is increasing drastically and may mean that soon 1 in 2 children will need glasses. This is due to too much close work at a young age affecting eye growth. The cure is being outside more. Apparently it is better for young children to be playing outside in the sunlight than looking at computers and phones (and presumably books if overdone)….wow, who'd have thought that.

I wear contacts for short-sightedness, but my issue now is reading.

When did text on newspapers and labels get so small. Is it a new thing that companies are doing....

I was told when I had my eye test that as we get older our eyes change shape slightly hence why people get to 40+ they then need bi or varifocals for the first time................that's it I am officially old <laugh>

I tried the different strength in each eye but it was just weird and my distance vision wasn't as good so that put me off. You can get multifocal lenses. I haven't tried them but a friend wears them and seems to get on ok.

Can also be down to the colour contrast...I could read labels without glasses if they printed black on white or yellow, but somehow black on another dark colour is considered ok. And print on labels is also really smaller because of all the modern requirements for labels.

My eyes aren't too bad as my long vision got better with age (can now drive without glasses) and I can read most print (including on the computer screen) for a short space of time....usually read books with glasses. My problem is that glasses irritate my nose...never found one that is comfortable for a long time, so end up holding my glasses away from my face....think I need a lorgnette :)

I wear varifocals, and have for quite a few years now.
I have always had one eye short sighted and the other one long sighted, but I think they are soon going to be the same.
I go for checks when required and at the last check, my left eye has changed to such a degree, over the years, that for the first time ever, without a lens, I was able to read the bottom line of the chart.
