The only thing I can think of , is that it would be the best way to get at the parents .

Going back to Chilco's comment .

I have often thought / said " If you were visiting earth from another planet , and you saw what Humanity had done to this planet , would you not try and wipe us out ? " .

    I know I would .

What if they could just go back in time and remove us from evolution? A bit like killing a virus before it gets started...

The key word is “almost”. Every so often someone shows the greatness which humanity is capable of, people like Gandhi, Mandela, and so on. While that doesn’t excuse the mess we’ve made, at least it gives the rest of us a reference point to aim for.

Human beings have done many bad things, but we are also remarkable for being an animal that cares not just about their immediate family, but is also capable of being concerned about other human beings and animals on the other side of the world.

And if the worst came to the worst, remember that their have been several mass extinctions and all that happens is that animals that remain evolve and adapt to fill the niches that have become available. For millions and millions of year dinosaurs dominated the world, but were replaced over time by other animals, notably our mammals ancestors. When we are gone (and we have only been here 5 minutes) life will move on. So I might be sad for humans, but not for life on earth....it will recover until we are destroyed by a passing meteor. The area around Chernobyl is thriving now despite the high levels of radioactivity. Life is infinitely adaptable.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on Madiba, he was the main reason why apartheid came to an end when it did, and why the end and aftermath was relatively peaceful.

I fully expected apartheid to be ended only after a bloodbath....things turned out better than I thought. There were no doubt lots of people of goodwill involved apart from Mandela, but he could easily have inflamed the situation, but he used his hero status to calm things down.

Ah sorry, there you are! Yeah Seb would prefer to keep Kimi as it’s no threat and he doesn’t react too well to inter-team thread.

We will see. They may stick Charles in a Haas.

Actually, it is extremely unlikely that humans can destroy the planet outright. We can make it uninhabitable for a period, at worst. But the planet doesn't care and the natural systems would automatically start to find equilibrium. The natural triggers on the Earth itself have far more scope to make sudden and climactic change [note, not climate change], but even so, they cannot trigger the destruction of the planet. Only a massive outside source can do that, such as the Sun coming near the end of its present life-cycle and engulfing the Earth in its flaming mass during its cycle as a red giant. That won't start for another 5 billion years, give or take. OK, we could be hit by a planetoid sized asteroid, but it's unlikely. So as long as we behave ourselves, we're relatively safe. But that's our main problem - behaving ourselves and working together. At the moment politically, we seem to be hell bent on falling apart.
