As has been pointed out, today's contract extensions are: Erik Lamela Son Heung-min Wait a minute... Erik Lamela Son Heung-min Erik + Son ErikSon Could it be a hidden message about who will be next?
Don Balon are reporting that we've been given clearance to bid for Hirving Lozano. As it's Don Balon, I expect us to sign everyone in Mexico's World Cup squad except Lozano...
Had an impressive tournament, he's young, he'd fill a gap during Son's absence and provide competition and he's got a good goalscoring record. Played a season in Holland where he did well too, but he's a Raiola client. That probably kills it.
The ever reliable Sun are saying Madrid are set to make a £50m bid for Tripps. Because you know, having Dani Carvajol, the newly acquired Odriozola as well as the versatile Nacho clearly isn't enough.
They've not said that but £50m plus Bale for Tripps would be a decent offer, Real may need to offer another £20m on top though.
Nah, throw in Modric as well and forget the £20M providing they loan trips back to us for the next 5 seasons.
Great shout, Dee. Could probably still push for an extra £10m instead of the £20m but I suppose that's being a bit greedy.
I love Sonny and delighted he's committed to us, but seems a risk if 2 years of that contract could be lost in the middle and no guarantee he'd return at the same level. Anyone else thinking that maybe there have been some positive messages received from South Korea about the Military Service requirements, regardless of tournament success?
It could mean a number of things. Hopefully, you're right. We didn't have to release him for this tournament and I doubt that it's been done out of the goodness in Daniel Levy's heart, if such a thing exists in matters of business. Recently, I read somewhere that players who started their careers in Korea and then leave, can return and play 12 months in their league in lieu of military service. Sonny never played in Korea but it might be something that could be a solution? A deal like that, for one Korean season would just about be acceptable compared to losing such a valuable asset and fabulous player, similar to losing Ossie to PSG, on loan, in 1982. Whatever the solution, his commitment to the club is MASSIVE. He's a god in Asia and has a media profile akin to David Beckham, he'd have top clubs begging him to join them, irrespective of the national service issue.
I have a feeling the club thinks we can find a way round it. Otherwise I doubt we’d have thrashed out a 5 year deal to Sonny. If he achieves success with SK in the Asian cup, that’ll give him a free pass anyway but even if SK don’t win, I think the country itself would rather Son continue being the marketing superstar that he is. Surely he’s too valuable for the country to be taken out of the limelight for 2 years?
Uh oh, the hacks have only just noticed that Max Meyer has been without a club for the past three weeks...
Reports in Norway say that 15-year-old Bryne goalkeeper Isak Middtun Solberg has been invited to Spurs Lodge for a week-long trial
Suggestions out of Turkey and in this country that Vinnie is going to make the loan move to Fenerbahce permanent in the next few days. He's got no future with us and it makes sense to get him out to somewhere he can move on with his career. Now, all we need to do is get a move for GKN, LLorente and Sissoko and the spending frenzy can begin...
