i know nothing about him or the trials but he was found not guilty Evans was convicted of rape in April 2012 and spent two and a half years in prison. His conviction was quashed on 21 April 2016 by the Court of Appeal, and a retrial was ordered. On 14 October 2016, he was found not guilty. Prior to the retrial, he joined Chesterfield.[3]
Just typical, attention seeking Barton. You just wouldn't take the risk of the bad publicity it brings. Guilty or not, he now has baggage. Which Barton will love. I hope Fleetwood get relegated.
Maybe he’s a good player available for a pittance because he was wrongly found guilty of a crime in a ludicrous trial.
Always felt a bit sorry for him. All too easy to throw these allegations about and it's ruined his career, and robbed him of 2.5 years. Posts like this also show that he'll always be judged regardless of the final verdict.
A bit harsh Me thinks, the lad served 2.5 years for a crime he didn’t commit, he has knuckled down, kept himself out the limelight and got on with his life. Meanwhile the “alleged victim “ gets of Scot free, has never been named and has no shame to hide. I think it’s a bit bad wishing relegation on a club just for signing a player and I imagine because you don’t like Barton.
I sincerely hope Barton does well at Fleetwood. I think he may just have the right attributes (football wise) to be successful. As for the signing of Evans, a very shrewd bit of business. Acquitted after over 2 years in prison. The lad has every right to ply his trade. It's all publicity for Fleetwood.
