When I've seen him play against us he's always got stuck into a tackle too. I think he's more than just a ball-player, which is useful because we definitely need some battlers in amongst all these unproven players.
It's great to see Adkins finally addressing the winger problem that we've had for so long. All managers suggest you need 2 players per position but when was the last time we had 4 wingers on the books?
Going to get a bit negative for a min in this sea of positivity......but........whilst it is fantastic to see the club moving for players early most of them so far are untested - I remember being excited when we brought in Wilson, Aina, Hector and Tomori last year and look how that panned out with only one of them being a quality signing. It's also typically a lot easier bringing in defensive minded players on the cheap, adding quality in an attacking sense on the cheap is going to be a lot more difficult if the approach to fees remains consistent with the past 2 seasons, we're still desperately short of quality in CM, wing and up front and the season is 2 weeks away....eek.
Reece Burke is the stand out player from West Ham. According to my WH supporting mate, only Reece Oxford is looked at as a better prospect.
I get were your coming from, and sort of have the same reservations. I think the difference between this bunch and last seasons loans are that these lads have had at least a season of competitive football not just development leagues. I think Hector struggled with all the chopping and changing in defence last season. I am hopeful our new centre backs can form a tight unit together. Hopefully we will get Norwood in to give us experience I'm the centre of the park
This, and the fact that this squad is bit by bit being crafted rather than being just a random collection of players that Slutz was supposed to somehow do something with.
No one knows how any of the new signings will pan out. But I can guarantee this board will focus on the player who doesn't kick on and not the ones that do.
A bit O/T this but whenever I'm thinking about City's new signings I always think of Eden Kane before I remember he's called Todd. Anyway I happened to google Eden Kane out of idle curiosity (how you do...) and after all these years I never knew he was one of the Sarstedt lot (Where do you go to my lovely, etc). As I say a bit O/T... Sorry.
Saw him in Blackpool on holiday with my parents about 1963. Marty Wilde and Karl Denver on the bill as well with a load of others I can't remember. Two brothers with a number 1 single and the third with a no 3. Not many families can claim that.
