Bolton press release: "A former Netherlands Under-21s international, the winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City as the Bluebirds won promotion to the Premier League."

Neglects to mention he barely played and was lambasted by Warnock as being the reason they lost a game!

He clearly wasn't a good fit with the current regime, so I'm content we've cut our losses. I think we'll see a youngster come in on loan to offer width.

EDP report there's a January break-clause in Yanic's loan. Not sure if that's for us to recall him if he's good, or for them to send him back if he's crap.

I wonder how much of his wages they are paying. They have a lot of money troubles.

After tonight's friendly, Farke was asked about Wildschut and said it was a shame to lose his crazy dribbling, but that his departure opens up the possibility for a "quality signing". Based on that, they must be paying at least a reasonable amount of Yanic's wages.

Interestingly, Michael Bailey reckons the break clause in January isn't so much so we can recall Yanic if he impresses, but more so we can sell him to someone else and make a bit of money.

That's a great call if we can get him in the shop window playing at Bolton and a team looks to snap him up in Jan. Irrespective of the club's decision to buy him for 4m in the first place, that's some clever (potential) business if SW can pull that one off.

HITC reckon Godfrey is to be offered a new Norwich contract.

Interesting to see how he'll be used this season. Pre-season has seen him deployed mostly in a back 3, rather than his favoured midfield role. I wonder whether Farke sees him as offering the ability to switch roles mid-game, allowing us to transition between 3 CBs and 2 mid-game, with Godfrey moving from CB to DM mid-game.

Having said that, with Tettey out and Thompson supposedly being managed so we definitely have a fit DM for Birmingham, I'm amazed we haven't seen Godfrey in a midfield role.

I like the idea of Godfrey 'transitioning' from CB to DM during a match (or vice versa). I can see him more as a RCB in a back 3 than as one of the two CBs in a back four though (as he did against Union Berlin). With possible doubts about Thompson having a relapse, we need Godfrey in the squad rather than sending him out on loan.

Totally agreed, here's hoping Thompson can stay fit and give
    Tettey's knees a few weekends off <ok>

If, as reported, City are in the market for a "quality" signing, which position needs this upgrade most? With our rumoured interest in Woodburn would this be the one? Either him or a keeper would be most likely.

Woodburn possibly if Oliveira leaves, but a third keeper is probably the greater need.

Looking at the compilation of Rhodes' goals, it's impressive how many are perfectly placed in the corners or just inside the wood work. When they aren't, he hits them with such power. If he can get back to that sort of form we could have a really good season, especially with Pukki and Hernandez interacting with him and Leitner or Vrancic providing the through balls.

I'm becoming more hopeful of a VAST improvement of our fortunes compared to last season.
Rhodes seems to be determined to put the past behind him. #timewilltell

Always seems keen to praise the place, and how happy he is to be here.
I don't know if there was a major falling out at Sheff Weds but his attitude here seems excellent.
Let's hope the same is true on the pitch <ok>

It seems like decades ago when @supermanwearsgrantholtpyjamasinbed was salivating over Rhodes , at 28 he still has a couple of years left and no disrespect to SrBeny or Pukki he would be my first choice .

The Huddersfield video shows what an explosive talent he can be .

Rhodes and Pukki are very different style strikers, one a power and position striker and the other using his pace and guile to beat defenders and score. I can see both Pukki and Hernandez playing off Rhodes to create goals and assists supported by a balanced midfield and solid defence.

If it all comes together we could be on to something a bit special.
