It feels like we are a team in pre season getting fitness and learning to work together while they are playing competitive football
I'm not hung up on them and don't think you can/should read too much into them in terms of the long-term, but you can definitely note trends continuing or possible concerns in them ahead of the new season. Performances clearly do matter in pre-season otherwise we wouldn't bother and would just run in a gym for weeks on end.
Derby 2-0 Saints Hoedt gets sucked in upfield and lunges into a tackle he doesn't need to (!!!), and Lawrence strikes low past McCarthy.
Agreed. But if performances don't matter then we wouldn't have matches. Match fitness is match performance. You can't separate the two.
And we are only in the third game of pre-season with still 3 weeks to go, it's silly to read too much into things yet IMO.
I'm not reading too much into anything. I'm not projecting or predicting anything across the season. I'm just noting that Hoedt was and still is utter cack and is still making the same mistakes as early last season. And that our passing has been sloppy today. Which it has.
Lemina Davis and gabbi as the front 3, Hoj and Romeu as the middle 2, reed as RWB. rest in their natural positions.
We are playing like a bunch of strangers to be honest. No real shape. No drive in midfield where we are being bypassed with ease. Results do matter when you play this badly.
