Hi General. I appreciate your response all I am saying is Remi got rave reviews at Home Park and they would dearly loved to have had him back. You don't become a bad player overnight, give him a solid defence in front of him and give him a chance.
On a different position, but along the same lines Dave. A couple of years ago, you said that you would be happy with Harry Toffolo being our first choice LB, after good reports after his stint at Peterborough. Where is he now? Yes, I agree, a good player doesn't become a bad player overnight, and yes, Matthews did get rave reviews at Plymouth, but maybe that is his level. After all, we have a history of keepers that we thought would be the next big thing, but they didn't quite make it at Carrow Rd. Joe Lewis springs to mind for one.
I admit I liked the look of Harry Toffolo, I also liked the look of Cameron McGeehan which only goes to prove I'm a good football fan but a bit short of being a good scout
This is the funny old thing with keepers for me. In the lower divisions the goals don't get smaller and whilst the quality of finishing might reasonably be expected to be slightly less good, those strikers get more time and will still hit the corners of the goal because the defenders are worse and allow them to. More than any other position I think a keepers task remains the same what ever the division. the better your ability to; fill the goal, react to danger, collect crosses, recover etc the higher you can get. The fact he has very much impressed on his loan suggests he's not far off what we need. The fans may not pickup on all the subtle bits that make a good keeper a great keeper, more they will see the functional saves not being fluffed, the odd exceptional save that maybe their last keeper would not have made, a commanding punch on a corner. More than anything it will be the manner of the goals conceded. This is where we are, the pre-season goals conceded have felt a little soft and whilst he probably wasn't doing that at Plymouth, this is what we have to go on. Bah!
I also thought he was one of our better players in the youth cup run, along with Ben Wyatt (where he?). It would appear that he has never kicked on to adult football.
Do you think it’s possible to keep the GK debate limited to ONE thread – it seems to be ‘rearing its ugly head’ on more and more threads?? https://www.not606.com/threads/pre-season.364062/ PLEASE!!!!!
I'm not sure saying he's not quiet ready to be our first choice GK if we're looking at a top 6 finish is the same as not giving him a chance.

Leicester City fans have praised the performance of James Maddison, in his first appearance since signing from Norwich City. Leicester beat Notts County 4-1, with Maddison putting in a standout display during the contest. The attacking midfielder caused chaos, with Leicester fans very impressed with the former Norwich man’s performance. <sigh>

This is actually true!! Nick Goff@nickgoff79 The weirdest football development of the summer by a mile is Wigan Athletic selling a defender called Reece James to Sunderland then loaning a defender from Chelsea to replace him also called Reece James.
