Today's buffoonery from the Levy Out mob... They say that waiting until the last minute sees us sign only crap players, even though Son and Eriksen were late window signings They're convinced that signing players early is what leads to success, as if Janssen and Paulinho are our best signings of the decade They try and make out that our away kit looking a bit like Barca's away kit is Levy's fault, as if he's in charge of Nike's kit design department If I want to read reality-reversing nonsense that's so riddled with holes it;s practically non-existent, I'll follow Arron Banks on Twitter
On paper, we are looking at the 2017-18 teams, but with the following : DOF - must be much closer to 2016-17 fitness now. Toby - if staying - fully fit. Wanyama - fully fit ?? Lamela - fully fit ?? Moura - fit as per the Pochettino fitness regime ?? There is however no : 1. reasonable cover for Eriksen, or Kane (although the others seemed to do fine in his springtime absence) 2. "X factor" player (like Bale 2012-13) would could potentially drag Spurs to a PL title. 3. replacement for Dembele (who is now either gone or severely limited as to how many decent games per season we can get from him)
Personally I think we need someone like Modric who passes the ball FORWARD. If Grealish will do that great. We play this high possession football with too much sideways passing. We have signed a number of strikers who have succeeded else where, Soldado, Jansen, Llorente and all have failed at Spurs. They need the ball to score. We just pass it sideways and wait for something extra special from Deli, Eriksen or Kane. A slight change of tact is needed.
Grealish can probably fix 3 and half of 1. Since he moved to CM and bulked up there’s a very strong possibility he could join as a Dembele replacement. While his ability to play further forward allows him to take over from Eriksen if required. 2 is where the big question mark remains for me. Thiago and Vidal have supposedly been told they can leave Bayern, one of those would be excellent for us. Bale obviously we know all about. Perisic I’m a massive fan of. Kovacic supposedly what’s out of Real. I’m sure there’s others that could potentially be available if the club pursued.
The annoying thing is, even despite this great news, ****ers are still leaving comments of "but where's new signing?", is it really that hard for these so called Spurs fans to be happy? I said to my mates on the group chat the other day that I've noticed a certain clique of Spurs fans who are literally non-stop slating Spurs on twitter, really don't understand why they bother supporting us when it seems to give them so much animosity, it's as if they do it purely just for attention and retweets.
Also, Aurier should actually be fit. He hadn't played for 8 months when we bought him and only seldom did he look like the player that we thought we were buying. I'm expecting him to up his game significantly this season. That should drive Trippier on this time out. Last season, he looked to lose confidence for a while after we bought Aurier and had times when he played below his own capabilities. He's coming back having learned what he's truly capable of. I'm hopeful that should lead to good things on the right. The extent of Danny Rose's injury and his mental illness led to us overplaying Ben Davies. A balance of those 2 should up our game again and keep Ben a lot fresher than he was post-Christmas. Before then, he was fantastic. We lost Winksy at the beginning of November having not had him at the start of the season. If we can get him properly fit, he's a really good player and will enhance us significantly. There were also the games that it took Mousa to get up to speed after being injured. For all of his dominant displays at Juve and Anfield, there were days when he looked 'done' before and after those highlights. Getting in a deep lying playmaker that can give us a regular level of performance would really help. Last season, we were playing Eric Dier and Sissoko together. That ain't great. My main worry up front is losing Sonny to the Asian Games and for that reason I see why MP might be pushing hard for Zaha. If we're moving on llorente and Vinnie [and we should] that's betting the farm on HK being fitter than he's looked for a while physically and he must be knackered mentally.
What do we class as "a winner" in terms of getting it into the squad? Hugo is now a WC winning captain. That's pretty winning. Maybe we still need a winner who is actually running around though....
If we're moving on Janssen and Llorente, and there's rumours saying Janssen is trying to move himself on if he has to, the obvious question is what we do for BACKUP STRIKER - and, no, throwing Sterling or Griffiths in at the deep end is not the solution. Of course, now that we're off on a tour of the US, that either means no announcements for a few more days - or working at a check-in counter gives you ITK cred for a week...
Llorente and Vinnie aren't the solution. MP hardly ever played them Losing them is literally no real loss. The false 9 with Lamela was better than Llorente, by some distance. I'm not entirely sure on Zaha but he played centrally last season and did pretty well. I'd rather that than keeping 2 players we just won't use.
A loud-mouthed, empty-headed version of these chaps was sitting near me at Wembley last season, antagonising all of us sitting nearby. I do hope I've managed to avoid him in the new stadium!!!
Is it equally hard for them to state what problem "new signing" solves ?? For me, NEW SIGNING may win Spurs the PL. Everyone else is just a new signing for the SQUAD.
