just got back from my month away, and extend apologies that did the compo I was running, not to have it all running up to date. Had found a pub with wifi, but unfortunately some spoilt little german brat had bought a ps3 or something like that and used up a whole month of the pubs monthly amount. He was downloading stuff on an evening after they got back to their digs, father visited pub once bought a single drink and acquired the wifi code, eventually 8 days later it ran out when England were playing …… PS well done Gareth on getting us to where we got to …………...
CHEERS ANGELIC, had the best part of 21 days slogging away doing 12k + up and down a mountain [6 k+ up and 6k+ down ] luckily it is only about 450m vertical range. split between first quarter and last quarter, the middle bit is just up and down over about 3 -4 k. 15 -20kg rucksack [ bought in 1974, a Karrimor ] still giving good service. temp was 28c to 32c measured on 3 different thermometers for 10 of the days. other 7 days I took it easy !!!! Just caught up on most of the postings and don't seem to have the same enthusiasm for the board as before I left … maybe that will change?
Good to see you back jgf2, like you I am away a lot now and involved with other actions, I also am not enjoying good ol' not606 as I used to, I am still trying to keep the pulse beating but not really getting the old reactions, like you say maybe it will change, anyway glad your Scotland trip kept you going.
a bit disappointing football wise, was hoping to emulate 1966 when in DUNDEE, in my uncles bar watched us BEAT THE GERMANS 4-2 ……
England’s World Cup reminded me of City’s season , started very well , playing adventurous passing football, beat a load of records and then somewhat spluttered at the end . Both ended up better than were expected at the beginning, but still left a feeling of what if at the end .
My motto is use it or lose it ……….. the annoying thing is the first trip up, solo, was a casual affair. It was to take a few items as far as I could and hide them in the heather! then next day take less and get all to spot of interest...… I finished up going all the way and day 2, again solo, going underground and preparing 30 loads for retrieval when others arrived. after a period of struggle pain etc the last 2 visits were getting easy and was ready to go again feeling really fit, but alas it was travel back time. The daytime journey back, via A roads, to A9 M9 M73 M74 M6 M5 M4 was amazing 625 miles taking 9.5 hours [driving time with just 8 mins of refuelling ] in a vehicle governed to 69.8 MPH ! arrived home at 2200hrs...…….. now ache as body relax's ...lol walked 180k over 6,000 m vertical range.. not bad for an olde pharte
