Massive reported dip in profits which Sports Direct have put down to "a better than average year last year"... No mention of extreme pressure on the highstreet, a mass of better online platforms, and the fact that with a general lack of interest in sport compared with computer games, we must be close to the death rattle of Sports Direct...
Oh that'll be ****ing sweet. What goes around comes around, karma's a bitch for ****s like Ashley. He'll get his, mark my words. Amazon sounded the death knell for the high street long ago. The fact that fat moron charges £5 delivery and sticks an ugly, ****ty mug in his packages says how out of touch that clown is. Plus everybody has cottoned on, so he can retain the 'value' of the brands he buys for far shorter timeframe; Firetrap, for example, is already seen as crap. More or less from the moment he bought it. You cannot keep degrading your own reputation with stunts like 'zero hours' and expect the same results when nobody knew you. His added problem is he's so hated by the NUFC fan-base (except Pouchy) that word has spread everywhere. Yes, people are still buying his cheap crap, but there's not enough margin in it. He'll never be broke, unless he keeps making a series of really stupid decisions (like Debenhams), but his fake money is going to tank like Woolies.
Where else will I get my Lonsdale slipons and Donnay vests if it goes bust? I do actually use my Sports Direct mug, purely since it is enormous
It's coming. Sports Direct, their bad publicity, zero hour cintracts, penalizing workers and bad investments are coming home to roost. The paper billionaires empire is slowly crumbling and the end is nigh. He will never be penniless, but he will lose a fortune.
You've done it again and Pouchy will be on to take the piss shortly. Underlying operating profits of Sports Direct are up from UKP113.7m (22.74Joselus) to UKP152.9m (30.58Joselus). Reason for the fall in overall profits is the hit they had to take on their minority shareholding in Debenhams, which is struggling badly. Suspect he will shortly increase his stake and take them over on the cheap. Turnover in Sports Direct is up, mainly on overseas sales.
Seriously Jak, can't you see that this lot will look for any crumb of comfort over Sir Mike, and then you whip it out from under there feet. You could have at least waited for JPF to ensnare a few more.
Mike Ashley has apparently said that Sports Direct stores now need to be Champions League in quality rather than mere former Toys R Us stores stocked with sportswear. The irony.
It's hard to change though, .Mike's already failed in his attempts to loan Fred Perry, Henri Lloyd and Burberry for the year.
Amazon is one of the worst companies in the world, they don't pay any tax here, despite £3.3b of sales, because every transaction is done through Luxemborg. It's been voted one of the worst companis in the world to work for as they treat their staff like absolute ****, in some cases the word 'sweat shop' is an accurate description of their working conditions.
SP have expanded in Ireland, they had a big stake in Heatons with part of the stores given over to SP now the Heatons bit is gone and just Sports Direct. There's a regular poster on here that was in Dublin other day on business, hmmm.
