Cheltenham Town have rejected Sunderland's bid for Mo Eisa.Sunderland submitted a bid of over £1million for the 24-year-old striker who the Black Cats have targeted to add firepower to their attack. READ MORE: Jack Ross reveals why he wants to sign Mo Eisa But Cheltenham have turned down the offer, with the club believed to value the player closer to £1.5million. Sunderland chairman Stewart Donald had revealed today that he hoped Cheltenham would accept a 'fantastic' offer for the Sudan-born Eisa, who scored 25 goals in League Two last season. Asked about Sunderland's bid for Eisa on the Roker Rapport website earlier this afternoon, Donald said: "They (Cheltenham) have not come back to us but that bid is strong. "I think we have chased them 20 times. "As I understand it from the football feedback I'm getting, and I don't know if it's accurate and Cheltenham would have to confirm, but I think our bid is the strongest bid and the closest to their valuation. I think it's a fantastic bid for the player. "I would hope Cheltenham would accept that and see that as a serious bid. It's a proper bid. "It's over a million (pounds). I think that will be our biggest transfer." Cheltenham have already rejected seven-figure bids from Peterborough and Portsmouth for Eisa, who has two years left on his contract. Billy Sharpe has also revelaed he has no intention of leaving Sheff Utd.
I hope we raise our offer. Sounds like he's for sale and would be a profitable investment at the least.
Its hard believe after all the millions weve squandered over the years were now haggling over a few 100k.
It's the way to do it I suppose, don't pay a penny more than necessary. I'd be disappointed if we missed out because of it though seeing as the money is there.
I think this is just part of the negotiation game....sounds like both parties aren't a million miles away....hopefully it will all get sorted and he will become one of us....
Inflated by the rags I reckon. I doubt we've bid a million and I doubt we will. Think we'll get him for less than that.
Who confirmed it was that much? Surprised at the fact our big signing is a Sudanese kid with one year's experience in league 2. Must have some ****ing promise!
Apparently he's now going to Portsmouth - according to some media outlets as they are favourites for his signing!! https://www.gloucestershirelive.co....smouth-pole-position-after-sunderland-1801717
He does mate. His goal scoring record is outstanding everywhere he's been. I'm a little excited to see him hopefully come here.
I don't get it... 1 in 2 at league two level, at 24 years old, is hardly anything to write home about. James Vaughan had a better record, in a higher league, and we got him for half a mil. Why is this lad's fee so inflated? Are we banking on him being the next Vardy / Super Kev? Big risk to take imo. That is huge money for a League One team.
He'll be our marquee signing. I've always maintained that a goal scorer will score goals at any level he plays. The highlights I've watched of this lad are very promising, he's got pace and he's an unbelievable finisher. Literally everywhere he's been, he's bagged goals. Well worth taking a punt on, imo. I think he'll comfortably step up to league one.
I'm slightly wary about this to be honest. I know absolutely nothing about him granted but it's a huge outlay considering the level and relatively unknown at this level. How many had heard of him before a week or so ago?
Not me. Just about every player I have heard of when we buy them generally lets us down, though. I'd not heard of Kevin Phillips when we signed him.
If Ross really wants him now's the time for SD to prove we won't be outbid for a player in this league! Whats Portsmouth got that we can't match or beat, stadium, training facilities, etc? Apart from the weather.....
