That makes two of us. Although for me it has always been that way (not a symptom of the RD era). I understand the need for pre-season friendly games, but as far as I'm concerned they are just another form of training. I've never wanted to go and watch Charlton players training. Competitive matches are all that matter - real games with points and promotion to win or a place in the next round of a Cup competition. Some fans like to go to pre-season friendlies, that's fair enough. But I've never been caught up in the culture of that part of a new season.
