There's no need to attack, then say you are offended by the response, then say you will quit again. I had no problem with your posts until you attacked me for having pretty much the same opinion. But wasn't ok for me to say. I thought it was a forum for discussion and opinions. I had pretty much the same opinion as you had been posting about for the last few days. Then when I defended myself, you acted like you had been attacked from nowhere. Read your post back that I responded to. Keep posting. I like a lot of your posts.
Yes you would be placing restrictions on who they can sign. If you establish norms for the good of the club, a manager is going to know that he must work within that structure. Naismith whilst experienced was not the only experienced player who we might have signed, if he would not sign for terms that included a relegation clause, we should have moved on to the next one. If Neil and the scouting department hadn't at least 1 or 2 backup options then I would suggest that is another failing on their part. Of course Naismith might have been the player that did more than anything to have kept us up and it would have looked a master stroke and we wouldn't complain about his PL wages as a PL player. But could AN have blamed the club for relegation for not signing a player who would not sign for terms that he was fully aware of being a restriction? Not for my money, this comes down to clear and competent leadership, there wasn't any. Bah!
IMO, it shows a failing of the scouting department at that time and from the evidence of the last couple of windows, that has largely been rectified - or at least on paper it has, but we won't know the truth until after the season kicks off in earnest (17 days and counting) and is there such a thing as an 'easy game' nowadays???? Carabao Cup games might be, but a lot will depend on how strong a team DF opts to field and if he continues in the same vein as last season, we can expect a fairly strong lineup.
I hope Idah gets a few minutes in the first team. He’s having a cracking pre-season. Could be like a new signing.
I have to agree and said so at the end of last season. It would be great to see him on the bench for the Carabao Cup games!!
The Binners and Bolton apparently joining Wigan in showing an interest in Wildshutt. I guess with our wage constraints if we don't aim to use him, we can't be overly choosy where he goes, but the binners! He'd almost certainly score against us unless ineligable if it were a loan. Bah!
I was going to say his last night. With Farke coming out and saying that Martin is with the u23s because we are looking to loan him, do we think hay means that Wildschut playing in the first team friendlies means that we are considering keeping him this term. From the reports he appears to have had a my least one assist.
I think there is a difference, Martin has proved beyond doubt that he cannot contribute, any suitors will know that is our position with respect to him and so our bargaining hand is very weak. With Wildshutt, OK last season proves that we weren't to keen but his inclusion in the squad is necessary as long as no offers have been received, he must at least be offered a chance to impress as fundamentally he is not a bad championship level player and could play a part if not heading to pastures new. Bah!
I haven’t minded Wildshutt when I’ve seen him play. Was in no way worth the money we paid for him, but I don’t think he’d be the worst player in our squad. Could play as an impact sub.
66.8M is the price agreed for Allison. Really excited to see Man City and Liverpool again next season.
Allison, Trent-Arnold, Lovren, Dijks, Robertson, Fabinho, Keita, Salah, Mane, Shaqiri, Firmino. Now that's a scary line-up.
All the really hot Stoke rumours, and their signings so far are for really good players, who are better than Championship level. All or bust type feel. This feels like a Sunderland/Villa. They will need to go up this season.
That lineup has a bench of Karius, Clyne, Matip, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Lallana and Ings. Building a decent looking squad!
Some interesting analysis of squad turnover in the championship here: Only 58% of the minutes on the pitch last season were from players still at Norwich, one of the lowest figures in the division, and likely to drop further as the window progresses! I'm not sure if this highlights just how much we're still in a rebuilding phase, or that we've got our business done much earlier than others.
Bethnal Y and G@BethnalYG Interesting tidbit in the PinkUn live chat about Norwich potentially lining up a keeper from 2 Bundesliga. If so hopefully it is Daniel Heuer Fernandes from Darmstadt, good keeper with good distribution.
I LIKE to think that we've got our business done early. Edit : IMO, I'd like to see Matthews as our new GK, but I'll reserve final judgement until after we play Luton next Wednesday.
