Couldn't say for sure but I seem to remember thinking he had a similar kicking technique. Might be talking out my arse.
These highlights are about 5 mins longer than those on safc.com. At about 5:30 you see excellent distribution. https://www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/2018/july/youtube--sunderland-highlights/
Makes you wonder why we bought Camp in in Jan to try and make up for the other 2 planks we had. Theres another reason why i wasnt Colemans biggest fan.
That was just like Pickford that distribution - not scared to get the game going early. How did we end up with Laurel and Hardy last season when we have prospects like this?
Adding Camp onto our wage bill was a massive balls up when we had a young lad like Stryjek whod been getting rave reviews from playing for the U23s. Coleman bottled it because of Stryjeks age.
Whether his kicking is as good remains to be seen, although that one in the video was bang on, but he's got that same speed of thought and action to distribute the ball quickly. He'd have had the same keeping coach as Pickford right?
I had a lot of support for Coleman but couldn't work that out - mind he brought in a keeper who would've been number 1 at Cardiff had he not got injured - so he didn't think he was getting such a dud!! But he also had an up and coming keeper who has looked Forget my Laurel and Hardy comment above - we had the 3 stooges fighting it out for our goalkeeping slot last season!!
Stryjeks been in our youth set up for a while. Hes a Polish U21 international so hes always had good pedigree. He may be a young lad but hes about 6 foot 5 with a strong physique so age does not matter.
Max should have been given a chance last season, yet was overlooked by Coleman, as were Beadling and Maja. Disastrous loanees were preferred and persevered with, his substitutions beggared belief at times, and in hindsight there was no case for prolonging his tenure.
Maja's season was ruined with injury last year but yes i agree Beadling should have been given a chance instead of bringing Browning, Wilson and Salter in. I expect Beadling to go on and be a Championship standard CB at least.
My son-in-law told me he watched the game last night. He's a gooner but a footy freak and will watch any game available. He said, and which immediately makes me doubt his sincerity, that it was actually a decent game. He also said Gooch and Honeyman stood out for him. Question is, can we keep these guys?
I thought he was a good appointment at first, but in football management, actions speak louder than words, and the results of his actions were there for all to see.
