Rangers have quite publicly rejected the bid, so I'm sure it was true!
When clubs make it public that they have rejected a bid it more then likely letting people know hes available but only at the right price
Bristol did it with Maynard
They havn't exactly made him 'available'.
If you look at Kris Boyd's (another striker who did well in Scotland) record in Scotland, it's usually something like 25 goals in 45 games. With Jelavic, it's more like 20 in 25 so I think he'd have a fair chance of succeeding in the Championship rather than someone like Boyd who flopped. Also the lack of European football might persuade him to leave Rangers. He recently said that Rangers isn't the same without European football. But the only way I can see him leaving is if he hands in a transfer request because I doubt we'll go back with a bigger bid. Mind you, I seem to remember he went on strike at Rapid Vienna to get his move to Rangers.
I also don't think it's a joke we've gone in for him. He's a good striker and is rated very highly by the Rangers fans and it shows Bristol we've got other options other than Maynard which might make them want to sell a bit more and take the money.

Apparently we have signed Kevin Kyle.
The let down to end all let downs.
