This is going to be the scheme of things until Mike Ashley is gone. Personally I don't think that'll happen until competition for that TV money really does heat up and Ashley can't milk the club on a shoe-string budget as our competition will be spending big just to stay in the top tier.
Two relegations would indicate he already can't milk the club on a shoestring. Third time's a charm, maybe?
This is collectively known as the “Ashley effect” In the English dictionary it quotes the Ashley effect to mean “to make promises that are blatant lies and to pretend to buy players as season ticket renewals are due”
I haven't seen anything to suggest the fat oaf is the type who learns from his mistakes, I think you're giving him too much credit.
The same Rafa who will be most likely moving on once his contract expires at the end of the coming season due to not getting any backing from the clubs owner whatsoever. Most fans aren't asking for him to spend what FFP rules permit us to spend but a reasonable amount because Rafa or no Rafa if our competition keeps getting stronger and we try standing still, we'll be left in the dust of the likes of Fulham and Brighton.
Whichever suits. Won't be from the end of last season, though, as that would make no sense..... #pouchylogic
We are better than the start of last season. We are better than the end of last season. Get off the misery train and jump on the positivity. We have young Longstaff, Aarons and Armstrong ready to contribute if given a chance. They'd had good spells away and earnt their chance. Time to get behind the club and stop all the bitching and moaning. The clue is in the name - SUPPORTers.
Eh? We are supporters. This is a forum about opinion isn’t it? I think we’re slightly worse off, personally. Which is bizarre given the money.
It is about opinion. But it diverted from that a long time ago into a witch hunt with a negative outlook regardless of reality. According to this board our situation is desperate and we're doomed. We most certainly are not. We have a good squad of players who give a ****. I'm afraid you can dress it up how you like, this board is becoming a joke with the constant negativity and its anti Newcastle in my eyes. Same every window. Other clubs just get on with it and accept that you can't just spunk 77m every window. We are paying for our own errors there is no doubt. However it achieves nothing to sit and moan.
On paper I would agree that we are better that the start of the last season - however, paper is not reality! Murphy has proven not to be as good as a £12M player (I hope he gets the opportunity though), Gayle has shown he is definitely not PL material, Yedlin is at best potential, we have lost Merino and downgraded him to Ki. We have 0 strikers of any quality (I would like to hope we play Armstrong on the bench.) Kenedy was good but still do not believe he is the saviour. Dubravska had a good half season but he is 29 and who here had heard of him so could easily had a one game balls up and the fans will shoot him down like all other GKs we have had. Aarons has proven nothing other than he is a dick - all hype and that is it. Lobby and Arma I hope they get given the chance. Yarney has potential. Ritchie although probably our best player has no further potential and is at best a lower PL player. On the flip side - Lascelles and Lejeune has shown they can be a solid partnership. Ayoze should be the player to build our team around. Shelvey has shown he can play without being a knob head and we know that Diame can play his current role well. Flip it again and we know we are looking to flog Mitro, Mbemba, Colback, Ritchie, Hayden which would make our squad weaker. (Scratch Colback)
Now you are a WUM - pure ****e is our squad at best. Yes most of them give a **** but injuries/suspensions to any 2 of Lascelles, Lejeune, Shelvey, Kenedy and Ayoze and we are ****ed.
