Monty thinks he's a Tree. That's the only association I can see here. But he also barks at children and pulls the shutters down at the local shops during open times. <laugh>

Keep well away from TV's Joe and Monty at all costs, until you recognise them for what they are, gardening equivalents of double glazing salesmen. <laugh>

There's been some awful shows over the years full of shortcuts and bad habits. Stick to what I know and trust.

I should have known you meant Monty Don <doh> just cause it's on here and you said Monty my mind went to our resident nutter.

Aye I don't mind Monty Don. Better than titchmarsh and done a better job developing and evolving the Garden over the years. He's got a lovely dog too.

I like Bunny Guinness off Gardener Question Time. But I think it's more for her sexy voice and funny name.

Bob Flowerdue? is my favourite on there, used to listen to the two on local radio as well a few years back, but my schedules changed but heard them on the car radio the other day and for me they are a good listen. Cant go wrong with Bunny mind.

Monty's great, chills me right out every time. He does everything so slowly that it's hard to imagine how he gets it all done but it's relaxing to watch.

Maybe he has some help from those two dogs on the quiet, and a few choice garden centres close by just in case, bit of a fashion Guru to boot. Love it when he gets into that pond so kinky. <laugh>.

We don't like Christine Walkden btw, she led my lady down a path of false hope with promises of apprenticeships to promote careers for BPD sufferers then just disappeared and stopped returning emails or calls. :/

To be honest I don't care much for any presenters, used to like John Peel in the early days when I was younger and more impressionable. Then I saw him on TOPS and he backtracked on everything he used to say on his Roadshows down the Bay Hotel.

A couple of days ago I had the pleasure of watching Jeff Brown (Local News Reporter) do an impromptu interview with an outside broadcast team, he was alone and answered all of their questions off the cuff, he was the epitome of casual perfection, when it was over he just shook hands with the team and walked off, as they packed their stuff away they were chatting with each other as though they had just met, it was really bizarre and one of those chance things that sometimes happens.

    Grimsby Town v Sunderland
Sunderland are back in action on Tuesday evening, with a trip to Grimsby Town next on Jack Ross’ agenda (KO 7.30pm).
The match-up serves as a natural progression to the Lads’ 2018-19 preparations, as they take on Football League opposition for the first time.
At Blundell Park, Ross’ side will be looking for a first pre-season win after kicking off their schedule against Darlington and Hartlepool United.
Benji Kimpioka was the star of the show last time out, with the 18-year-old coming off the bench to score a late equaliser on his first-team debut.
Grimsby, meanwhile, fell to a 4-3 loss at neighbours Cleethorpes Town as they got their warm-up programme underway at the Linden Club.
The Mariners haven’t played since that outing on 7th July, though, opting to build their fitness on the training pitch.
Michael Jolley’s side finished 18th in Sky Bet League Two last year, with the forthcoming campaign their third consecutive season in the Football League.
Like Jolly, Sunderland manager Ross is expecting to see more from his side when the sides face off at Blundell Park.
Two pre-season outings, coupled with a training exercise against Dundee, mean that fitness levels are on the rise within the Sunderland ranks, and the boss is hoping to build an effective style of play and a winning mentality ahead of the new campaign.

    Jack Ross
“Looking back at it (Saturday’s game), I think we put a lot of quality balls into the box,” said the boss.
“We need to add that cutting edge to our game, but we have to make sure that we become more secure in defensive areas.”
He continued: “We played a lot of the game on the front foot, and when you do that you have to make sure that one ball doesn’t beat you, which is what happened on Saturday.
“It was another small step forward for us, and although I’m not going to hide behind the fact that we have an awful lot of hard work to do, I was pleased with the players and the way that they approached the game.
“Naturally, you want to start building winning momentum and get that mentality into the players, but the second pre-season was a lot different to the one in midweek.
“We have an understanding of where we need to get to and slowly but surely we are getting there as a squad.”

    Stryjek getting his chance.

5' A flurry of chances fall Grimsby's way but Stryjek does well to stand firm. He blocks ex Black Cat Cook and then quickly leaps to gather a second effort before taking his time to throw the ball back to slow the Mariners down.

Obviously he's not the finished article and mistakes will be made but from what I've seen and heard his agility and speed are big strengths of his. Reminds me of a certain other young goalie...
