Batistuta? I know he scored one against Greece at USA '94, so I assume he also got one in France '98?
Hand on heart, did you google as he was a bit before your time? Was Argentina's top scorer until Messi overtook him. Still their top world cup scorer. Was getting £7 million a year in 2000, a fortune then compared to most players. Loved if when he was playing for Fiorentina. Always followed their fortunes since we played them in the Anglo Italian Cup in the 1970s. Because of their kit, which is great, and their lunatic fans who create an incredible atmosphere in a stadium with no roof and some of the worst sight lines of any stadium. Which shows acoustics, rooves etc have now to do with atmosphere, it is the fans. 5 times they have built a Juventus fan club in Florence. 5 times it has been burnt down. It is the only major Italian city without a Juve fan ckub.
I watched a load of Argie stuff just because the World Cup as they were my sweep. Without that, I probably would never have guessed him. I do remember briefly seeing him at the tail end of his career. Also you mentioned that the player won very little and Batistuta did very little when it comes to titles or cups won.
Great player, wasn't he? Leeds new manager was the first to sign him for Newlls Old Boys. Hope he doesn't get any like him at TWS. He has been in such agony with his ankles, barely able to walk, he asked about having his legs amputated. Surprisingly for such a good player he is on record as saying he doesn't like football, it is just a job.
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...l-winner-france-england-croatia-a8448596.html Becoming a bit of a **** country in terms of football are Croatia. Not content with edging the SF, they seem to wanna perpetuate this. It will come back to bite 'em.
We were in Florence a few years back when it was the home game against Juventus. Florence won 2-1 I think, and when the winning goal went in the whole place erupted with celebrations almost on a par with France's World Cup stuff yesterday. We were on the other side of town from the stadium but there was no mistaking who had scored.
Yes, I love that contrast between the beautiful renaissance City and the fervent fans who follow them. A few years ago I worked with someone from Livorno. Always used to come to work with a Livorno FC away kit on. It isn't far from Florence and he used to go to the odd Fiorentina game, said the atmosphere was something else.
The World Cup Team of the Tiurnament needs a bit of VAR. They may need to look again at the choice of keeper given their “Golden Gloves” Award on Sunday. Neymar? Paulinho? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....al-fifa-world-cup-team-of-the-tournament/amp/
The team of the tournament that L'Équipe put out is much better (though I'd swap out Thiago Silva for Godin) please log in to view this image
